Pay off loans in socal

So I really want to get a new 08 LWB 4x4, however I owe a little more on my truck then it's worth(about 3k). I've been hearing all these adds on the radio and tv for GMC Toyota and what not where they'll pay off your loan no matter what you owe if you buy a new car or truck. And since thats about the only way I'll be able to afford the new truck for the next 12-18 months I was wondering if any of you so cal guys and gals have heard or know of any such deals going on at any of the Nissan dealerships?

It's not 4wd and I really want/need the long bed. Plus the new touch screen nav and bluetooth would be nice too.

No I have all the goodies, I just want the new versions of the toys. And I need 4wd and a long bed so, thats my justification.

Re: Pay off loans in socal

If I were you, I would evaluate your financial situation. Is it worth it? Rolling over an upside down balance onto a new vehicle purchase will only make the situation worse. What about four years down the road when you want to trade in your '08 for a new redesigned Titan? Instead of only being $3k upside down, now you are $7k-$10k upside down. If your heart desires it, go for it. Me personally, I will wait until my '07 is paid off.

Re: Pay off loans in socal

Most dealership will pay off your existing loan, however, they'll add the upside down value to your new vehicle purchase. They'll have more leverage when you decide to go through this route.

If you want the truck that bad just go to the dealer and tell them that you want your payments to be the same, and if they can't do it, walk out.

Re: Pay off loans in socal

I was upside down about 3K when I traded in my Frontier for the Titan. My payments went up about $50 a month/66 months. If your wife is cool with that difference, get down to the dealership and see what they'll do for you. Like others said, you can always walk out. If you do, they'll call you within the week with the offer you want.

Re: Pay off loans in socal

Wrong. Figure out the numbers yourself and if you're willing to accept the extra interest, tax and depreciation you'll be paying, get pre-approved for a loan from your credit union at the amount you will need (new truck - estimated old truck trade in = loan amount)... then negotiate with your dealers for what trade in value and new truck cost you want to get. You're at a disadvantage when you "have" to trade in a vehicle you currently own, but it's better to be prepared than to go in and tell them a monthly payment you want. They'll do it for you...but you may end up with a 8+ year loan at a ridiculous interest rate to make it happen.
