MPG on Nissan Titan CrewCab

Hey, What are you guys getting for MPG on your titans. I'm looking into getting one and with the price of gas these days i dont want 12MPG.

LOL, I can't speak for others but mine avg 12.5 mpg, sometimes it get as high as 13.5 or as low as 11 mpg. Mostly city driving in my case.

Worst city tank ever was 11.
Best was 14.
Worst highway tank (towing, fast) 13.5
Best highway 17.5 empty, and fast.
Mine is 4x4 with Big tow gears.
It has 14,000 miles on it.
Sometimes, towing slow, 14 and 14.5 with 3200 pounds hooked on.
Empty trailer once got 16.5 at the speed limits.

I just got my 08 CC Titan early last month and gas was a shocker, definately can tell the difference from my 89 ford ranger. My gas mileage sucks and is probably 12 mpg or worse cause I'm still enjoying the feeling of a brand new truck and I don't drive conservatevly.

Bottom line is that most people that are easing up on the pedal with a titan will get 15-16 at best,... but this truck is just tooooo dam fun to drive that sometimes your right foot gets happy so in reality expect 13-14 average if your on the freeway alot maybe better.... just my 2 cents.

According to the ScanGauge II:

- From 12 to 15 local driving
- Jumps between 17 and 21 on highway at speed
- Averaged 15+ towing ~3000lbs 2 weeks ago (total trip, mostly highway)

Combined tank average is normally about 12.5, since I live and commute on base.

2004 CC BIG TOW, OR 4X4 15MPG. I would expect no more than that from a 4wd. My trucks has no mods at this time.

I know this is said and said and said over and over, but... every couple of weeks a new Titan owner posts something about MPG.

If you want good gas mileage get a smart car. Heheh... Seriously. Titan is a big boy, it pulls big toys, and it goes fast. Lots of power and torque. You either get all that, or you get good fuel economy and none of that. This is the reality of the internal combustion engine.

And when you spend north of 40k $$$ on a truck, and close to $1500 a year insuring it - the difference of 5 mpg won't add up to a thing in the big picture (even at 2x todays gas prices) - so arguing whether the Tundra, or Silverado, or whatever gets an extra mpg here or there is academic and missing the point completely. No one gets a full size truck expecting to get good gas mileage. It would be nice, but that technology hasn't been invented yet. Maybe in a few years the clean diesels will ramp up and get us an extra 5 mpg, but that won't add up to more then $100 a month in fuel savings... barely a dinner out.

And Ford Rangers don't pull 9500 lb trailers. They also suck wind when you step on the gas. Titan is a Titan baby. Hence the name.

Enjoy the awesome Titan truck. It does what it does better then any of them. Nissan was nice enough to give us a nice big fuel tank... and that makes all the difference

Thanks for the feedback. I talked to a guy that has one and he said he gets 17MPG which sounded pretty good......but when i did my research i wasn't so sure he was correct. I have been looking into the Toyota Tundra CrewMax. It has a very big and fast engine! And has decent gas mileage. But what i dont like is the 5.6 foot bed. I would like atleast a 6.5foot bed. Thats why i was leaning toward the titan. But i need something with decent mileage and i can throw a quad or whatever needs to be thrown in the bed.

I avg. 15 almost all the time.
best mpg seems to be between 55 and 60 mph.

Do K&N air filters, and cold air intake help much?

not much. I have a drop in K&N filter and it may have helped about .5 mpg.

I check my mpg everytime I fill up out of habit.

i'm getting about 13.5 mpg, close to 14mpg, still on my first tank though. I imagine once the engine loosens up then i can probably squeeze 14.5 to 15 mpg with the mix driving.

Titan is the way to go, if you really add up the gas mileage, there will be minimal difference between comparable trucks. Like someone said earlier, the trade off is in the utility of a truck. You can haul stuff and go almost anywhere in any weather. That is worth an extra $50 in gas per month. $50 per month in gas increase is what I calculated going from my Mazda 6 to a Titan. Givin my avg distance and the avg gas price. The Titan is much more useful and fun. The only thing I gave up going from a car to a truck is gas mileage and handling. I even have more room in the cab of the CC Titan than most cars or suv's. Go for it, you will not regret it. Test drive one and see for yourself.
