Question Gas Gauge question

Hey I was just wondering how sensitive everyone elses gas gauges are. Mine seems to be very sensitive. Is this normal for this truck?

Can you describe what you mean by sensitive?As in your needle fluctuates up and down while driving or something or it goes down alot? If it goes down alot maby its cause our titans get such great gasmileage..not lol

Re: Gas Gauge question

Mine doesn't fluctuate much. Rarely changes while I drive, somewhat hilly.

I can usually predict within a gallon how much it will take at the 1/4 marks;

3/4 = 5 gallons

1/2 = 10 gallons

1/4 = 15 gallons

1/8, or about when the light comes on = 20 gallons.

It's been the same since I bought it new almost 3 years ago. I've had one or 2 glitches where it read 3/4 right after I filled up and stayed there for awhile. Other than that it's been consistently accurate.

Yeah today on the way home I was at a quarter of a tank and litterally five seconds later the light came on. I was like what the heck!?! And the tank before that it was all the way full for like 20 seconds then it dropped to 3/4.

Re: Gas Gauge question

I have two 06 Titan LE CC 4x2 and both have had to have the fuel sending units replaced within 10k for the same reason. Sometimes when i would fill up it would never go all the way to the full mark also. There's a "service bulletin" on it. fixed my problem

Re: Gas Gauge question

I had a problem with my gas guage when it was new. It would sometimes stay on the full mark. I waited till 40,000 miles to have the dealer replace the unit so that I could use the fuel pump and filter and then have a new one at 40K.
