Stake Holes on Usage

I need to use my stake holes on my bed rales to install some sides so I can haul some wood. Anyone know how to get to the stake holes? Do i just need to cut out the insert on the rail or what?

Yep, just use a utility knife and cut on the lines

Take it slow and easy, the cutouts are larger then the stake hole and you well cut into the paint if you cut too deep. I made several cuts and then drilled a hole in the cutout and popped them out. Just don't cut to deep at first.

Bought my truck used - they guy before me had bed rails on, thus my stake hole covers are gone. Should I cover them back up or just leave them open?

Curious about rust problems, etc. if I just leave them open?

As long as he didn't cut into the paint you shouldn't have any rust issues. I still have my cut outs if you want them. They do have a 1/4" hole in them though. I've read on here someplace that new bed caps were pretty cheap if you want too replace them. If you want mine PM me with your address and I'll drop them in the mail.
