tail pipe rot

i have a 2004 le with 27000 miles on it. the clamp on the tail pipe has rotted through ruining the pipe and the muffler. this truck is driven in winter [salt] but constantly has the undercarriage washed. i am 5 months out of warranty and basicaly nissan says to bad. anybody else have this problem? when at the dealership they said very common along with the manifolds cracking. was going to keep this truck for quite sometime but i must say the yota is looking better. at least the yota dealer will push for me. has in the past.

1. Get your truck undercoated. Water and heat rust everything including stainless steel...
2. Manifolds cracking is a separate issue and you have 60,000 mile warranty on that.
3. Summitracing.com has a variety of SS clamps to use to replace what has rusted. I switched those out on my '04

4. If this issue is causing you to look for another truck, please do so. Every truck and dealership has issues/needs/oddities that I agree shouldn't be passed on to a consumer who expects more from customer service but please understand that someone who has 3 posts is posting that they will search for another truck, go for it...good luck!

Re: tail pipe rot

Maybe you are not trolling...Maybe...

That can probably be fixed at *insert local muffler shop* for about $20 by just welding an over-sized sleeve on both sides (no clamp needed).

Re: tail pipe rot

yep, when a truck sits it rots, you need to drive it more. Go out and buy a nice cat-back.
