04 issues.

i am having some concerns on my 2004 titan and was hoping that you all might be able to answer some of my questions.

I did a couple searches but did not find exactly what i was looking for. If i missed something feel free to post the link.

1st question is a noise that is coming from what sounds like the left side driver wheel area. It sounds like a rattle or a metal clanking sound is coming from the suspension or something in that general area. it is speed and bump related and pretty much stays at the same volume but increases rattle speed with bumps and speed etc.

i think i found the answer to my second question but just wanted to make sure... My truck makes a very loud thud when i release the brakes from a full stop almost as if something is not settled in right. I found some things on how the brake pads might not be settled in the caliper right. Does this sound like what i have and if so is it something easily fixed yourself or a dealership issue?

Also recently, when i go to fill up the truck at the gas station, i cant put gas in for more than 5 seconds with out it over spilling even at dead E. ive gone to different gas station and have tried different speeds. the only one that really works is just barley squeezing the handle.

I think thats it for now and thanks in advanced for the help.

Re: 04 issues.

The gas filling problem has been reported by numerous Titan owners.
My 04 Titan did it two or three times when it was new, but
hasn't spit out gas in over two years. It has been talked about in
the forums, but I can't recall if there has been agreement on a cause.
I wonder if the sudden narrowing of the filler neck causes the
gas to splash back if the nozzle tip is in a certain position.

Re: 04 issues.

For the first question you had it'll help to know if you have a lift kit or not.

Re: 04 issues.

Nope no lift, stock.

Also, im not sure i described it too well. On the ride home i listened to it a little closer and its not constant. its only when i hit bumps and i heard it a fast food stop and it kinda rattles.

Hopefully this helps clear it up a little bit for the first question.

thanks

Re: 04 issues.

The fuel fill problem was traced to a clog in the fuel vent system near the fill pipe. Its either an airlock or a clogged carbon filter.

The cure was/is fill with gas tank before you reach full empty or tease gas in a very little at a time. The filter can be clogged due to age or during freezing winter with condensation ice.

Re: 04 issues.

I've had the same clunk over bumps on my truck since it was new. I've brought it back 3 times, each time they claim they could find nothing wrong.

Re: 04 issues.

Never a problem with fueling my truck up......

I've heard a lot of people complaining about it though....Good luck..

If i hit a big enough bump i hear all kinda stuff.....Big truck, big bump = some noise depending on size of bump and the speed you are traveling..
Let us know if you find something loose are broken......

Re: 04 issues.

I have an '04 CC 4x4 LE; I had a rattling issue with mine that I swore it came from the suspension or chaisis area, pretty much what you're describing; it turned out to be the hood; check if there is play in the hood by trying to lift it rapidly and repeatebly while is closed (kind of shaking it up and down); if there is, adjust the rubber stops and the edge of the hood by twisting them counteclockwise.
This took care of my problem.

Hope this helps.

Re: 04 issues.

i have had the fillup problem for a while, and no end in sight. you just gotta pump the gas real slow until you get 2 0r 3 gallons in there, and then you can pump it normal. usually works.

Hey man I think that actually might just be it. Ill check it out tommorow but im thinking your right because at 70mph+ i get a very hard raspy vibration from that area and it might just be related. also the hood had been ajusted recently!

hope thats it and thanks for the info

Re: 04 issues.

Check the front splash plate(the one you have to remove when changing the oil filter)When I had my 04 one of the bolts was loose making rattling noise. And slight clunk.
