Questions about S&B CAI?

Don’t really know much about cold air intakes, so take it easy on me.
I have decided on an S&B CAI for my 07.
Would it come with oil or do you buy oil separate?
How often do you need to clean them?
Also which web site has the best price?

Re: Questions about S&B CAI?

No experience with S&B, but most oiled filters come pre-oiled. There may be a small "ketchup packet" of oil enclosed, but typically, you have to boost some $$$$ for the "Recharge Kit". Most just use the K&N recharge kits for around $20....

Re: Questions about S&B CAI?

The filter comes oiled and should not need a cleaning for at least 40,000 miles. The current price is about $230 delivered, check with the vendors here at the forum.

Re: Questions about S&B CAI?

A few months ago there were some concerns posted about
the diameter of the S&B tube being different than OEM
where the MAF fits causing a false airflow reading...lean.
Anyone know the status of that issue or it has been
declared BS?

Re: Questions about S&B CAI?

It dosen't come with a "recharge" kit, but it can be purchased seperately. I have left over K&N cleaning/oil which I plan on using if I don't get an AFE or AEM dryflow filter for my S&B CAI. Cleaning depends upon driving conditions...such as if you drive alot in dusty or dirt roads the more often you should clean it. I know with about 5k/little over a year of use on mine it is looking a little dirty with on road/city driving. I don't like to worry about the "too much" or "too little" when oiling the filter so I have planned from day one on getting an AEM dryflow filter once mine was dirty. My S&B was one of the first production run ones which had a few fitment issues, but I got for dirt cheap compaired to the other CAI's for the titan...so even with purchasing the Dryflow filter I will have spent less than an AEM/AFE/whatever.

I had my SES light come on once for a "too lean" condition after having the S&B installed for about 1000 miles, but I'm not sure if it was related to the S&B or a system hick-up; either way it hasn't returned.

RPM Outlet has them for $230 shipped.

I had a good shopping experience with them when I got my JBA exhaust.

The newest S&B has a narrower tube and that took care of that concern. The new design has been on the market now for several months. You won't find any early generation tubes out there anymore unless some Ebay guys have leftovers.

Re: Questions about S&B CAI?

I ordered my S&B last Thursday. From what I have read any issues the early units had have been resolved. When I get it put in, I will post up some pictures and let you know how it worked out.
