i dont know it really depends on where your payoff sits if you still owe alot on your truck and it is not going to make a crazy difference if you trade up then id be all over the pro 4 x in a freakin heartbeat screw the chrome its all the same color when it is covered with mud i took my truck off road once and a sware i couldnt tell if i had chrome or not the pro 4 x is a freakin machine and you need to jump all over it before you kick ur self in the arse for not doing it

Re: Keep my white 04 SE or go for an 08 PRO4X? HELP!

The XE and PRO-4X do NOT have the same bumper. the PRO-4X is all metal whereas the XE is still plastic.

I say go for it. I think paint beats out chrome anyday of the week.

I say you are way better off keeping the 04. You will take a bath on the trade in and then the value of the 08 is going to plummet hard and fast unless there is some relief in these gas prices.
The newer 08 will always have a higher trade in value than the 04 because it is newer. That is where the equity lies, barring that you didn't structure your loan to get you upside down on value.

Vehicles depreciate, that is understood. They are not an investment but you can minimize your losses. I sold my 05 privately and got into an 07 for little to nothing by leveraging that rebate. If I unloaded an 05 vs. an 07 on for an 09 model, the 07 will have higher trade or resale value.

The 50% hit is not a valid number because you bought the truck for $10,000 under MSRP. Your percentage hit should be based on your purchase price compared to the trade price, which will certainly be less than 50%.

Bottom line question for Hudson is "do you want to extend yourself for a few more years to go with the 08, or keep the 04 for the same monthly obligation?" Your going to run into repair bills at some point in time. I calculate $2000-$3000 major repair or repairs around 100,000 miles. Factor those variables into your consideration and see how the numbers work for you. Good luck with your decision.

Is it? I thought all front bumpers, regardless of what color (or chrome) the center portion was, the endcaps are still painted plastic pieces.....am I incorrect?

Anyhoooo.....I don't know how to do it so can someone help me or tell me how to start a poll....keep the 04, or get the PRO4X? Great posts folks....thanks and keep em' comin'!

BTW...anyone with pics of the dash lit up at night? Is everything still awful orange? lol

The PRO-4X gauges are white during the day with black lettering/numbers and at night they turn black with white lettering/numbers. I have my rear view mirror properly adjusted so that I don't see my orange/amber radio glowing in the back at all. And I have 5% tint on there on top of the factory 20%.

Re: Keep my white 04 SE or go for an 08 PRO4X? HELP!

So far I'm leaning towards keeping my 04. After driving a few, here's what I've picked up. Power-wise, no real difference except that the 08s seem to somehow not allow full power right away at WOT as the 04s do. As for speed, I feel no difference. The PRO4X interior doesn't really differ that much except for the seat trim color and guages....I don't see the difference everyones talked about as far as upgraded materials...however I was only in it a few minutes.
I love the stereo w/XM and bluetooth, lighted steering wheel controls and new guages. Not too crazy about the new HVAC controls in the PRO...in fact the first one I drove, an SE, the fan wouldn't turn off...broken from the factory...lol...not a good sign.
Although yes, I'd love that new car smell again, warranty that starts over etc. I just don't think I can force myself to settle for black...which is about all they can find with the goodies I want in it. Black is nice but, stays clean for about.....6 seconds and shows every little swirl mark! And I'm a freak about a clean truck.
The other thing is...all the things I was looking at the PRO4X for, like the rear locker, and OR package, I already have on my 04. I think maybe I'll wait and see what 2009 or 2010 brings. I'll have even MORE equity by then as well.
Thanks all for all your help and opinions! They've all been 100% useful in my decision!

Re: Keep my white 04 SE or go for an 08 PRO4X? HELP!

My truck had an MSRP of $40,440, LE long bed, under seat storage, chrome rear gate handle, tow package, side rails, floor mats. I got it for $31,000 after rebate. They gave me $20,500 for my 04. I paid the $10,500 difference and 617 of taxes and fees on top of that for a total $11,117. I am going to install a SS Lund Bug Shield, and my prodigy barke controller which I removed from the old truck.

Oh I forgot, did I mention the new car smell, AAAAAAhhh!![/quote]

Wow - that is a nice trade in value. Chevy dealer only offered me $19K for a 2006 LE 4x4. We would have been a lot closer to a deal if they had offered $20,500, and that is for a 2 year newer vehicle. I guess the Nissan dealer wasn't as afraid of trying to sell a Titan as the Chevy dealer was. Oh well.

Re: Keep my white 04 SE or go for an 08 PRO4X? HELP!

They are full of BS. I went to Edmunds, KBB, and NADA.com and they all showed my truck to be worth 20-21.5K in trade. Edmunds have the Titan as "consumer most wanted". The dealers here in Idaho have the 04 and 05 SEs with about 50-60K miles listed for $25-26K. My 04 LE had only 21K miles and was in excellent shape. They have it right now on the lot for $25,995.

Look at one again and then look at your truck. The bezel around the radio and HVAC controls is now a color molded plastic instead of being painted silver. The painted bezel scratches easier. The same goes for the plastic trim around the vents on each end of the dash.

The seats are also made of a totally different material. '04-'07 Titans have some sort of neoprene material. They stain easily and aren't very durable. My '04 is already showing wear (looks like a hole will bust open) on the drivers seat. Lucky for me I bought seat covers. The '08 seats use a much more durable material.

Park 'em side by side and you will notice the difference.

Well - I walked from the deal and they let me - no call back.

So I dunno

Re: Keep my white 04 SE or go for an 08 PRO4X? HELP!

I like the chrome too, but after seeing the Pro 4x parked next to a LE at the dealer I thought the color matched front look better on the new 08 front end.

Where are you located? I had two dealers in southeast Idaho give me pretty much the same deal. I went with the one that had the truck that I wanted on the lot while the other needed to locate what I wanted.
