True...Renault to the rescue, but the Titan and Armada (and the fugly QX56) have suffered under Renaults no spend-o money on ads policy. The cars Nissan introduced after the Frogs took over were already designed and styled, so all the Frogs did is provide the money to get them to market. Important, yes...but "the Ghosn in the machine" coulda spent a few more francs on advertising them.

Remember fellow members when the Titan first came out? Renault/Nissan had a few ads, but by model years 2005/2006/2007, there were very few ads...very few.

As far as Renault was concerned, it was almost as if the Titan didn't exist.

Oh, btw...How many ads have you seen for the Armada then and now?

Maybe one commercial but I'd have to say a big fat ZERO! And that really sucks as both could be great seller for Nissan IMO.

Re: Ghosn hints at killing Nissan Titan

Wow! $3/gal gas & the new fed regulations claim thier first victim.

Although I can't be that surprised, considering Nissan was unable to meet the 100K unit goal during the best of times. The most surprising thing about Ghosn's suggestion is that it leaves Nissan with a significant amount of over capacity at a brand new plant. I can't believe that Ghosn probably hasn't considered killing the Quest as well. I'm willing to bet that the Pathy & Armada probably will be reinvented as crossover type SUV's and that the Fronty & X will remain body on frame for the short term.

One thing everyone seems to have ommitted is that the Canton employees share a significant amount of blame for the Titan's lack of success, thanks to thier well publicised shoddy build quality.

P.S. If the Dodge/Nissan rumors become a reality and the next gen Ram becomes the next gen Titan, I suggest you all hold on to your "old" Titan's as it will very likely be less capable (Hint - say goodbye to rear leafs and say hello to lower payload and towing capability)

There's at least one good thing about a Rogue.

It has more drivers legroom than a: Toileta RAV-4, a Hunka CRV; or a Saturn Pue.

Re: Ghosn hints at killing Nissan Titan

I always got/get a big smile on my face when those precious few moments of tv advertising came about for the Titan. I'd poke my wife in the side and go.....lookie there honey!!!! I always wondered why there wasn't ever any real effort to promote the Titan/Armada. It's a shame because it seems that finally there are enough Titans on the road to get some credibility and recognition. So thats it huh.......so long Titan? This truck absolutely embarrassed the competition in it's debut, but with little to no changes and no marketing effort it will surely fade slowly. WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Re: Ghosn hints at killing Nissan Titan

I can honestly say that I see just as many Titan's as I do Tundra's in OKC. Actually, I see more Titan's than I do Tundra's which kind of surprised me with the number comparisons and all.

So, if the Titan goes, what happens to the Armada? I have a vested interest in knowing because I'm about to pull the trigger on a new Armada for the wife and if it's going bye-bye, then I need to say hello to the Toyota Sequoia. The 08 looks interesting but $$$$!

I am in Lawton . We have all the others truck dealers here as well, and I see MANY Titans.

Re: Ghosn hints at killing Nissan Titan

The Toyota just won the Motor Trend 2008 truck of the year. I wonder how much they had to pay them to win that.

To me It seems that every truck that has won that has not been the best truck you can buy. I have'nt seen any reviews that rank it a head of the Titan.
Are truck just dose not get the respect it should, I'll put my 05 LE CC up againts any other half ton truck thats on the market right now.

I've test driven the Toy an did'nt care for it as much as my Titan, it had good power but so dose my Titan, compare price on loaded trucks an the Titan is a way better deal 4 sure.
The titan is way better looking inside an out to me, an drives much better!
07 big 3 I've driven are not even close to my LE, I think that if more people would take an honest look an test drive the truck, then compare it to the othere's it would 4 sure be selling more of them.
I used to be a die hard Ford guy but not any more, if more people would not be so stuck into a brand it would do better.

Just my thoughts on this.

Deep.

Re: Ghosn hints at killing Nissan Titan

I dont put much faith in the MT truck of the year. The rules they use say only new or significantly updated vehicles are qualified to run for it. Ever notice most of the big brands dont introduce a new truck the same year as another maker? Even if it is the same year, they also use production dates. Wonder how it would have turner out if the tundra and the 07 winner Chevy would have went heads up. This year it went up against the HD series, not the same.
