I just don't get it. By and large, Nissans are some of the best looking and most innovative vehicles on the road today. Infiniti is right there as well, I'll take them in the looks department any day over Lexus or Acura. Nissan/Infiniti quality or reliability doesn't seem any more off par than the other makes. Nissan is constantly putting out good performance numbers. Is it all marketing to blame? I think it's partially due to people hung up on which brands do what well. For a full-sise truck, it's gotta be a big three, for a mini it's gotta be a Tacoma, compact cars go to Honda, luxury has to be German, etc etc. People are very unwilling to step out of the norm and try something new. Honestly, Nissan could have built the world's most perfect pickup, with no maintenance/reliability issues at all, and I seriously doubt Titan sales would be that much better (and still nowhere near the domestics.)
Couldn't agree more. The blame certainly falls in Nissan's lap, however. I know it's sort of apples and oranges, but look at the success of 2 recent off-shoot car makers, Saturn and Scion. Both GM and Toyota marketed the sh*t out of these and they're very successful for each parent company. As I said in a previous post in this thread, alot of people nowadays want to be "told" what they like and what to buy and not I'm not that much different. I just bought a Truxedo Lo Pro on eBay last night solely on the reviews, pics, and comments on here from you guys. I have not even seen the cover yet in person but I trust that the information available to me is accurate. It's a much larger scale, but car buying is very similar. People are so fixated on JD Powers and Motor Trend and Car & Driver and so on. Hell, the ONLY reason I even considered looking at, much less buying, a Titan was after riding in and eventually driving a good friend's Titan. I was as closed-minded as most people are regarding "foreign full-size". Anyhow, I sadly believe it may be too little, too late for our beloved Titan. This press conference quote will serve to only weaken public opinion and possibly discourage potential buyers that were maybe on the fence in their decision to buy Nissan. It's unfortunate because, as you and I believe, the Titan really brings alot to the table as far as full-size pickupery goes. GM clearly thinks so.....have you seen the new Silverado/Sierra extended cab doors yet? I could on for days......sorry for the rant.

Like I said earlier.
It's a French thing.
The French have built and influenced some of the most technologically advanced automobiles ever to grace the planet earth. They just don't know how to tell everybody else about it.

The French believe that people should know what to them is "obvious" and if they don't it's because they are not French, poor bastards.

Look at the first full size foreign, the T-100, it didn't do well at all because the japanese don't fully understand the american culture. Now look at the Tundra, Toyota's second attempt, BAM, takes off like a rocket.
Plus chicks dig them and the name is bad ***. anyone know of a way we could do the mass email someone mentioned or something they need to read what we say. we are the consumer damn it.
as well as how could they make a suv with irs that can alomost tow the same amount and no probelms with their rear.

First off, the T-100 was nothing near being a "full size." It had the drive line of the Tacoma with a 5/8 scale body on it. The second gen was still undersized/underpowered. And even the latest isn't taking off "like a rocket" with sales lagging far behind Detroit's third place Ram. Granted it is doing better than the Titan, thanks to Toyota building somewhat of a repertoire with the previous attempts. Fast forward two generations into the Titan's future (if it's still around) and I bet you it would be selling numbers similar to what we see from the Tundra.
If they call is quits, then I believe that shows a pretty large lack of commitment, not only to their product, but also to their customers. Dont know why, but that really irks me. And it will also show in the level of commitment their customers (and myself) give back to Nissan.

Well, you made some good points, but you should have left Saturn out of it.The truth is that plant has been a money hole, they consistently have to shut certain lines down all the time because they don't have the vehicles to sell.

I guess you have to figure out what a full size truck is. Given the size numbers of 6000 LB vehicle weight, 75.2 in width, 122 in wheelbase, 209 in length and almost 72 inches high, the T-100 was no small truck. And the pre 2006 or 07 Tundra was actually larger than the Titan.
But if Nissan through the money at Titan advertizing the way Toyota, Ford and Dodge do, I think this particlur thread wouldn't exist.

I suppose the only realistic measuring stick is whatever comes out of Detroit. Today's fullsizes would dwarf those of the '50s. Today's half-ton has payload capacity exceeding a 3/4 ton, yet we still call them "half-ton" trucks.

Never said it was small, but in comparison to all other half-ton pickups at the time (GM, Ford, Dodge) it was small. 6000lb, really? Must have had some lead hidden in the frame rails.

Only in length when comparing CC models IIRC. I'd hardly call that "larger."
