Carlos Ghosn was intimately involved in the demise of the Titan.
He believes that Nissan's future is in vehicles that use less gas. There was a fairly good article in Business Week a few weeks ago.
He's been a very prudent business man...and has shown the ability to make good cars and make a profit...something many auto makers are struggling to do.
I think it is unfortunate that Nissan chose to cut corners in the titan. I can only dream of how are truck would have done if Nissan hadn't skimped on brakes and differentials...and had tighter QC on the 2004.
Because of brakes, diffs, and poor quality control...consumer reports burned the titan...bad. And many, many, people use CR to determine what cars they will and will not look at. Getting on the CR do not buy list...does not bode well.
I'm sorry to see the titan will have a short life, but it makes sense. The full size truck market is shrinking, Nissan got slammed on quality, and Toyota entered the market with a Truck that beats nissan at it's own game (biggest baddest 1/4 ton).
Carlos Killed all research into allternate fuel programs... He doesn't care about fuel mileage, he cares about making money....
Nissan skimped on the Titan because of Carlos... Squeeze the vendors even if it means getting a crapy part!!!!
Carlos is the Devil!!! Save a penny and screw everyone!!!

will it be 100% Dodge or is there a chance it would at least have a Nissan engine?

Nissan design and powertrain have been the norm for any collaboration Nissans had with other companies in the past. Other than maybe a Diesel option, I'm sure Nissan will be sticking to their own powertrains again. We don't want, or would I expect Dodge to lend its' Hemi to the Titan. Nor would I expect to see the Endurance V8 in a Dodge.

I am glad to see Chrysler won't be touching anything on our trucks as well; however, this isn't quite over. Looks like in 2011, there *could* be a possibility of the Titan being discontinued.
Let's keep the letters going...but make necessary changes per this new article.
Chrysler and Nissan have officially canceled plans to work together on a number of platform sharing opportunities. Previous plans would have seen Chrysler supply Nissan with the next generation Titan pickup truck, in exchange for Nissan supplying Chrysler with a small car for international markets, as well as a rebadged Nissan Versa for South America.
With Chrysler now owned by Fiat, the U.S. automaker now has access to a long list of small car platforms at its disposal. Nissan, however, isn’t so lucky. Nissan will continue to built the Titan pickup truck at its Canton, Miss., plant through 2011, but beyond that point the Japanese automaker has no plans.
“We’re exploring our options,” said Fred Standish, Nissan North America spokesman.
Nissan is now left with two choices, to either find another automaker who will supply a platform or to develop its own on an tight schedule. There is also the possibility that the Titan pickup could be scrapped entirely.

DAMN!! Then i guess either id have to buy a new Titan in 2011 or go to the dark side and buy a 5.7 Tundra. Uggggh man that hurts to type.
They could get some pretty ideas from the Titan forums as what all is being modified to work better and then put it into the new trucks to make them better. I would think.. Hope the Titan gorws up a little and keeps its Titan name, engine and shape!
