Re: Installed ScangageII today!!!

ok I haven't driven my truck alot since I did this install but I am definately getting better MPG so far. The only thing that I have noticed is that my RPM gage reads higher than my tach does or so it seams by a few hundred RPMS. do any of you have this issue?

It pobably won't be real accurate on the first tank. When you fill it up you will have to adjust the amount of gallons used. After the first couple of tanks it will be reading more accurately.

Mine rpm reads the same.

No, all you have to do is when you fill it up you go to the more menu, the the fillup. It will say you used x amount of fuel, it is not exactly what you used, then you adjust it. Takes about 3 seconds to do.

grats hope you like it like i do. now that I think about it you could always make a wedge and velcro it to the wedge and the upper part of the windshield to give you a proper viewing angle. No cutting.

Re: Installed ScangageII today!!!

I have a space under my Alpine head unit that looks rather inviting for the scangauge.

that works too but just be careful that you dont look at it too much while you are driving. I think the ideal place for it would be directly above the steering wheel upper windshield area sortof like a HUD. It can register MPH and is very accurate at it.

Re: Installed ScangageII today!!!

Here is where i ended up mounting my unit. LOL. I love the way you can change colors to compliment the other lighting. Boy i sure was surprised to see the MPG. Why does it gradually increase as you go? Seems as though it would start from a higher MPG than it does.

Now that doesnt sound like the response i expected from someone who only uses their mirrors when driving?!?!!?

I hope i wont get to distracted, i mainly wanted it for MPG and trips.

yes I use my mirrors alot when driving, thats what you get when you are used to driving 42' long ladder trucks that the only reason for looking over you shoulder is to see the firefighters in the back.

you can set your trip to a gage in the xgage functions. I set one for tank mpg. The mpg that you see is instant mpgs and are all over the spectrum. Set the trip functions and you will get level readings. The instruction book is ok but the pdf version on the web is much better.
