Engine Bay Cleaning

What do you use to clean your engine bay? Not sure what to use to avoid damage. Years ago we used to use Gunk degreaser. Just spray it on, let it soak, and hose it off. Probably not good for todays engins though with the O2 sensors and such.

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

SIMPLE GREEN. 50/50 mixture with water. Works pretty good if the engine is not to dirty. Do it about twice a year.

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

I would also recommend that you also wait until the engine is cool before cleaning, cause past experience has taught me that you get a annoying tick from engine bay after you shut it off.

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

I never did it often....maybe a couple times a year but I just used the same sponge and car wash soap I used on the outside of the truck. I'd wash the truck then do the engine (well...top of the engine, all the plastics etc) while cool, then lightly rinse it. Then I'd dry whatever I could and start it and let that dry it all the way.

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

I use Simple Green and then after it dries I spray a tire coating. This will make it look good and help with your next cleaning.
