Is it possible to install a new aftermarket dvd / nav system for a new 2008 titan?

Well I have heard that it's near-impossible to upgrade the standard titan head unit to an aftermarket NAV system. Is this true? If not could someone be kind enough to help this newb out and point me in the direction of a possible tutorial?

Thanks guys.

Well its pretty possible.I have the pioneer d3, it didnt sit right in it so what had to be done was on the black cover that goes on it, cut it and keep just the side peices that hold it in,pic 1. and there a flat black piece I put over it. pic 2 and made it look better when its in, I had to adjust how it sat in there .
Sorry there big mods.

Is it possible to install a new aftermarket dvd / nav system for a new 2008 titan

Hey thanks for the pics,

That install doesn't seem terribly hard at all, thanks! Do you like that nav system and is that the only nav system that is relatively easy to install?

Forgot to tell you welcome to TT. But no it didnt come with one. I had a initial nav system.portable.7" screen.mp3 player. It blew.As in it was crappy Also had the pioneer bt-9800 deck which was great but the powersupply and somethin else on my amp went bad and messed up my deck. Then I just got the d3. Love it besides for the huge diference in quality from my old deck to this one.But thats where the rockford 3 sixty comes in handy lol.
But no problem for the pics.merry christmas

I read somewhere that the 08 radio and HAVC are one unit. If this is the case, then I would say that upgrading the unit might not be a simple task. Maybe someone familar with the 08 can confirm or deny. Good luck

Alright thanks, you think all nav systems are that easy or should I just stick with the d3 to be safe rather than sorry?

To be honest I have NO idea what are the good nav / dvd systems and which ones are bad so any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks dude!

Theres also a z2 from pioneer with a built-in harddrive, thats if your not looking towards also having something with good sounding quality then these arent them lol. When I switched it went way down so im gonna put in a 3sixty soon.
Im not sure if the 08's are the same or not. pm tech12volts, he should know of quite a few dvd/nav systems.

Re: Is it possible to install a new aftermarket dvd / nav system for a new 2008 titan

There are 2 types of stereo bezels on the 2008 Titan. The first one is like the one posted above which has been the same since 2004-2007 with it's 3 knob design. For the 08, if you have the 3knob design on your XE, you will more than likely also have the double din opening already built in.

For the 08 bezel for the SE/Pro-4x/LE are like this: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/3/...28Large%29.JPG
You will need the new upcoming Metra bezel kit: http://www.12volt.com/images/stories...07/95_7424.jpg

The Metra bezel kit has not been officially released yet. We are still awaiting for it to go on sale.

Part #s for what you'll need from Metra are below:
2008 Nissan Titan Dash Kit: 95-7424
2007-2008 Nissan Titan Wiring Harness: 70-7552

titanguru: From some of the experiments we have done on here, the HVAC is not connected to the stereo system. You can disconnect your OEM radio and still have full functionality for your AC/Heater controls.

CES in January should give us more official information from Metra.

I'll be getting the 2008 nissan LE, I doubt I'll get the navi system with it since it's overpriced.
