Good Deal?

All -

First post up here on Titan Talk. First thing I did when I was looking at purchasing a Titan was to find a good community base and looks like I can mark that off the list.

I have a truck I'm looking at and wanted to get some feedback from you all on if it's a good deal or not.

-2005 Nissan Titan LE
-4x4 Off-Road Package
-Brilliant Red
-Big Tow Package
-Crew Cab
-61,xxx miles
-Adjustable Pedals, Pwr Rear Window, Back-Up Sensors
-Nav (No DVD)
-Rear DVD

Issues with it:
-No mechanical problems except that the power steering hose is slightly damp (No leaks I can see, just a little moist). Possibly a common occurrence for a high-pressure hydraulic line?
-12 small paint chips around the vehicle (As if it was driven on a dirt/stone road. All are less than 1/8" with no rust and just show the white primer coat.
-Paint on bottom of entry jam on the passenger side is worn (from stepping inside and out)
-Weatherstripping at the bottom of the driver's door is worn.
-A few other minor items where a cap is missing or a small tab is broken off. Nothing major at all.

With all of that being said, is $21,400 a good price for this truck?

Thanks,

Russ

Re: Good Deal?

Just make sure that power steering hose is not really leaking. I think it runs around $500 to get fixed! Also check to see if it has had the brake fix done and what other maintenance/fixes have been done to it.

Dont know about the price, it sorta seems high for a 2005 but i dont know how crew cabs are priced used so i may be wrong.

Re: Good Deal?

That seems high for a 2005 seeing as you can get into a new one for 5k more.

Re: Good Deal?

I got my 2005 LE w/ 32k miles on it for $22 and it isn't 4x4. Even with the 4WD, I think that price is too high given the mileage

Re: Good Deal?

I have to agree that seems high. Try going here, it will give you a better idea once you add in all the options etc.

Re: Good Deal?

Private party or from a dealership?

In the Dallas area of Texas from a private party, in excellent condition, you should pay 20,500. In good condition, you'd pay 19,200.

The suggested retail value in excellent condition is 23,300.

Re: Good Deal?

I think that price is way to high.. Dealerships are dying to sell cars these days. I got my 08 cc pro-4x for 29k with all the great trimmings.

Re: Good Deal?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Been searching for about a month now, and unfortunately I only have about 3 weeks left to find something.

Sold the other vehicle and we are getting ready to move so I'm trying to jump on the best deal I come across.

KBB put it right above Good Private Party Value priced and it's at a Dealership.

Will have to give it some thought I suppose.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Re: Good Deal?

No matter what - once you own a Titan you'll forget how much you paid for it.

Re: Good Deal?

I got to talking to the Nissan Dealer last week, giving me a pretty good price....

The truck I'm looking at is 2008 Titan SE King Cab with about $2,000 in options, sticker is $32,610 he quoted me $29,600 (invoice) + tax - $5,000 rebate, then we found out I get supplier discount via my employer, now we are at $25,650 OTD - BRAND SPANKING NEW!

Is this a deal!?

Re: Good Deal?

I just went to the dealership looking to buy an 04 XE with off road package for 18000. I offered 16500 and he said that sounded fine. The guy before me made an offer first though and so they honored that. They showed me an 08 pro-4x, tons of options and a sticker price of 36,000. Ended up driving it off the lot for 25k. According to the finance guy there the dealer ended up with a loss of 1400 but you never know. The sales guy said he only made 100 bucks commission too...

Point being with the 5,000 rebate going around, it really is true that the dealerships are trying to move these trucks. On the flip side they said they only get about 1 truck back per month on trade in so thats gotta say something about how Titan owners like their trucks...buy something you like the price won't matter as much in the long run. (So long as you can truly afford it.)

I love it, just gotta lift it now to keep the woman from drivin it.
