Angry low range mishap

i was hoping someone could help, just bought a 2005 titan and was trying out the lo range on the lava here in hawaii, the lo 4 light flickered on and off for a while and then the whole automatic box went crazy, could not put it back in park, grinding noise, would not drive in d??, in the end i switched the car off, put it back in 2 wheel drive , switched the engine off for 10 mins and off i went, any ideas??

Well I have had some strange problems with my 4wd but that is bad. Were you moving when you put it in 4lo. read the instructions in the manual if you have not already. I would try it out after reading the manual and let us know what happens. never shift into 4lo while moving. I put mine in N before shifting into 4low it works great after using it and breaking it in. hope it all works out. keep us posted.

Re: low range mishap

If you flip down your drivers side sun visor, the instruction on how to engage/disengage four wheel drive is convieniently printed right there. If you're engaging 4Lo, the truck has to be in Neutral and you have to be stopped I believe.

Re: low range mishap

I'm pretty sure the truck won't let you go into 4LO without it being in neutral or park.

I think we are just making sure. If you were in p or N then I would take it into the dealer if it messes up again. Good luck.

Re: low range mishap

sometimes they get caught up switching in/out of 4lo... I would try it again to see what it does.. Also it needs to be in neutral.....

I noticed also when it has not been used for a while it is harder to go in and out of 4lo. I try to use it about once a month and now it works quick every time. just be at complete stop and be in N.

Re: low range mishap

Ya' have to be in neutral, stopped, and the front wheels have to be pointed straight or you may get gear damage.

It's in the instructions ...

If that light is flashing, it's not in.

I have had the same thing happen more than once. Had to get the owners manual out. If I remember correctly the key is having your foot on the brake to get it out of 4-lo.
