Here in Vegas I don’t get much ice (really none) but me and my friend would head to Mt Charleston at 2am and used the parking lot as a stunt course. It would be covered with a nice layer of snow and ice. We would practice 180, bootlegger reverse and the best trick was a full 360 and keep on going. It took some practice to used the E-brake, steering and then dump the clutch in 2nd all in perfect timing to make the truck do the 360.
The 360 was hard and we could only do it in my friends Toyota 4x4 (the small one’s like 1987 model) I had a full size 92 GMC and I absolutely could not do the 360 with that truck even after 50+ tries. About 220 degrees and then it would come back was all we could make that truck do. I’m thinking it was just too long and heavy.
I haven’t really pushed my titan off road or in the ice so I really don’t know how well it will do. Back in the day I really didn’t worry about breaking stuff or ending up in a ditch. Would be fun to see if the titan is up to the 360 challenge.

It likes doing 180s but have yet to pull a 360 I think it would be tuff but it could be done.
Glad all is ok! Sounds like you were going a lot faster than the 5 MPH you claim because there's no way you'd have done a full 180 with just the rears on ice otherwise. But you're not in a warm state anymore so...you'll have to re-learn winter driving. Have to learn somehow. Thankfully, your first lesson was in a parking lot and not on the freeway!
I was actually pulling out of the parking lot onto a four lane divided road, not really a highway because the speedlimit is 45mph (it is in a business sector). Anyway, When I spun on the ice, my front wheels hit and jumped the curb when I was a little over 90* into the turn, i think i stopped at 180* simply because my front wheels were no longer on the roadway and the rear wheels were still sliding on the ice in the road. I tell you what, though, when i felt the momentum of the rear coming around on the ice, I knew at that point that there was absolutely nothing i could do. The road had a slight grade to it, maybe 2-3*, but when that rear end sling shotted around, it felt like i was doing 45 mph. It reminded me of riding the "teacups" at disneyland, where the front of the bucket is mounted to a free spinning pivot and the rear of the bucket rides on two wheels that are guided by a 360* track. When the ride is turning, the plateau you are on goes up and down throughout the ride causing the teacups to move on the rail left or right, if you can shift your weight along with the traversing plateau into the spin of the teacups, you can get going pretty good and make everyone else feel sick. That is what it felt like when the rear of the truck came out from behind me. I just felt the momentum increase ten fold.

Its hard enough trying not to spin out making a right turn in the rain with the powerful titan, let alone on ice. luckily MD hasn't had too harsh of a winter and no ice, so i've been having fun in the snow. I'd be too afraid to try the 180s or the 360s mentioned above. I love my titan and don't want to hurt my baby.

Yea, I know what you mean. That was the first time I had ever "lost control" of my Titan. I definitely don't want to experience that again. I am just glad that I didn't hit anything (except the curb) or anyone or that no one else hit me. It could have been a lot worse.
Oh, and thanks guys for all the great comments and for expessing your concerns that I or anyone else did not get hurt. I was really lucky, during rush hour traffic too. Thanks again everyone for your sincere concerns.

Done. I will try to get the wife to stand outside and film me tossing 'er sideways. But I do want say that when I said drift it was on ice not dry pavement...I'd love to see a Titan smoke the rears while sideways!!

I beg to differ.. Not being argumentative... just stating fact. I had a nasty experience Saturday night on ice as well... After installing the PRG parts, the BIL & I decided to take the back way over the mountain - a dirt road - to have some fun. About 1/3 up the mountain, it was icy, but no problem for the truck. But about 2/3 up the mountain, at the steepest part, it was a glassy sheet of ice! Truck lost traction and slid to a stop going uphill on a one-lane dirt road......upward embankment on the far right side..... precipitous dropoff on the near left side....just outside my driver's door. When the truck stopped, it slid backwards about 10 feet and the rear headed for the dropoff. Scared the schit out of me... We got out, checked over the situation, and decided to swing the truck around. A quick drop into R, a blip of the gas, hard on the brakes, cut the wheel, and the front did a 180° like nobody's business... ON DIRT!!!! From there, I had the BIL crawl the truck down the hill while I guarded the front passenger's fender. I walked alongside the truck, pushing on the fender to keep it from going over the side into all the trees on the dropoff. Crazy as that sounds, not only was this the safer side since there was some broken snowy crap on that side to give me footing and give the truck a bit of traction, but the other side was a glazed sheet of ice near the embankment and the truck would have just slid down out of control. And another thing... you'd be surprised how easy it is to push a 5500 lb truck around when it's completely on ice....
That said, glad all turned out well for both of us... Ice is no fun to drive on... especially not on hills!!!!
That story made my butt pucker just reading it. Ever had that dream where you slide off a cliff? I did and it sucked.

As George Carlin says, this expression makes no sense. It was a near HIT. An accident is a near miss. BOOM, oh look, they nearly missed.
Yeah ice is some freaky stuff. When we got some earlier this year I was coming down a hill and I had to stop right at the bottom, so I put it in 1st and was trying to make sure I didn't hit the brakes so hard they would lock up but it happened anyway and I ended up skidding right into the middle of the road. Luckily the people on the road saw this happening and stopped.
You got me on that one, TriKKy. I remember George Carlin, he had some funny stuff. Haven't seen him in a while though.

Yea, i don't know what he is up to now. I haven't heard that name in quite a while. Maybe he is enjoying his semi-retirement.

wow!!! 70?!!! I didn't know he was that old. I thought he was in his low to mid 60's. Cool, I have HBO (17 channels of HBO), I'll have to keep an eye out for his special.
