$75 to Advance Timing?

I finally found a place (85miles away) that will advance my timing. Only problem is, they want labor cost for hooking up the diagnostics, which is $75. So, is it worth it? I've got an '08 SE, with the Magnaflow swap. Will I notice it immediately, or would my money be better spent towards an CAI? What do you guys think? I need to decide ASAP. On a side note, I will be traveling that way regardless, so it's not like it's out of the way.

CAI would be a much better bargain. 2* timing does help but no where near what a good quality CAI would do. 2* timing takes no time at all with Cipher. If you know anyone with Cipher...have them do it or go to a local meet and guys will do it for free or really cheap.

Re: $75 to Advance Timing?

I’m seeing threads about 2* degree timing advances constantly, but I have no idea what that it. Can someone please explain this to me and why so many people do this to their Titans?

Re: $75 to Advance Timing?

I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it.

Better throttle response is one of the main perks. Some dyno's show a 1 or 2 HP gain...some show no gain. There are tons of threads on this. Do a little more research and make an educated decision. I installed Headers, Uprev, and did the timing advance all in the same week...so i noticed HUGE gains, but not sure of how much a difference the timing made. My major gains were the Headers and of course Uprev tuning.

Re: $75 to Advance Timing?

His 08 requires Consult 3, Cipher won't do it, yet. Put the money towards a CAI, get the T/A when a bargain comes along. Where are you located, sounds like the boonies somewhere...

Lol....I'm in Kentucky. No Nissan dealer in town. I beginning to think the CAI is a better option. I see you have the Brute Force. How's that combo with your Magnaflow?

Re: $75 to Advance Timing?

Just be aware that adding a CAI in most cased will reduce your MPG rating as much as 3 mpg.

My bad...didn't see he had an '08 (guess i need to learn how to read). As far as mileage goes...i didn't lose any at all. I get 17 on interstate and 14-15 in town REGARDLESS of how often i punch it. Had the truck for over 2 years and mileage was consistent before and after CAI.
