I'm getting a squeak from the engine compartment at idle when cold or under load about 1800 RPM. I suspect the belt or tensioner. Any way to verify one way or another? Also, is this an easy job to change the belt and/or tensioner?
Thanks in advance.

Squirt some water on the belt, if the squeek goes away while wet, it's the belt. Yes, it is fairly easy to change the belt just make sure it is tensioned correctly or else it will lead to more expensive problems.

I've noticed this cold weather squeaking as well...and figure its the belt.
Any info on how to make sure the tension is set correctly?

I just bought a brand new 2008.5 titan it has 1000 miles on it and also has the squeek when cold at idle it drives me nuts cause the truck is new. It sounds like belt to me to

I have an 06 titan that developed this squeak at about 6500 miles. I took to the dealership they said it was the tensioner pulley and replaced it and the belt. All was good until about 13000 miles and the squeak has returned. Other then the pulley squeaking it has had no issues i really like my truck. Its at the dealership now i am waiting for the reassurance that all will be fine for another 7,000 miles
As 37L1 said, lightly spray water on the underside of the belt while it is making the noise, if the noise disappears immediately, then it's the belt. The tensioner automatically adjusts the tension for wear, there are hash marks on the tensioner housing that shows how much adjustment is left. Never ever use any belt dressing on a serpentine belt.

I got my truck back from the dealership. They once again changed the tensioner pulley and the belts. i was told the sping in the tensioner was weak. If your trucks are under warrenty its covered. I am very happy with the service departrment.
