Keyless Entry 08

Hey all,
I'm new here, first post. After having a frontier for the last six years, I finally bought a Titan last Mon.This Titan did not have keyless entry installed. The guy at the dealership said the 2008 basic model Titans were not equipped for keyless entry. It is crew cab and has power locks and tire pressure senors. I have read under one thread that your titan needs to be equipped for easy hook-up of keyless entry. I have also read that you can put the ven# in somewhere and it would tell you if the titan was equipped.

My questions are: Does the guy at the dealership have a clue in telling me the 2008 basic model titans are not equipped for keyless entry, or was it his way of getting out of puttin one on the truck I bought?? And, where can I enter the ven# to find out if my truck is equipped with the proper chip?? Any suggestions how I can find out?

I'm sure someone here knows more about the 08s but in the past, I was under the impression that all Titans were equipped and you just had to buy the key fob and have it programmed.

I know some older XE base models didn't even come with power door locks so it's plausible that some 08s don't have keyless entry either.

I just could not believe that it was not part of the standard package. I could understand if it was a yugo (don't think they make those anymore?), but this was a $30000+ truck. Thanks for the replies, any other will be appreciated.

If you have power locks and windows, you should have keyless entry. Check your sticker to make sure, it should be listed there.

As far as I know, and according to my order guide at http://www.nnanet.com the base model Titan (XE) comes with keyless entry as part of the XE Preferred Package when you get a Crew Cab.

The King Cab models do NOT have keyless entry with remote windows down (when equipped with the XE preferred package). At least that's what my order guide says. Good luck, and let me know if you need any further info.

EDIT: I see you have a 2008 Crew Cab XE. I would check your window sticker for the preferred package. If you have it, then you should get two remotes from the dealer. Make them give them to you, I would.

When I purchased the truck, I told them I wanted a hitch and keyless entry put on it before I bought it. He went to "check" with the service guy to see if that would be ok. His reply was that the 2008 XE is not equipped for keyless entry, so he put on the hitch and filled up my tank. I don't think he would lie to me, but it saved him about $100 so you never know. It is not listed on the sales paper. With the wealth of knowledge you guys have, just thought someone would know? How much trouble and $$ am I looking at to get it if it is not equipped? Thanks for the help.

I'm sure...if it has power windows, it may not have keyless entry but it already has everything there so just buying a remote and programming it should work. There are people here who have done it on earlier models.

As stated previously, if it has the XE Preferred Pkg and is a Crew Cab, keyless entry is STANDARD for 2008. I only sell and order these vehicles for the Nissan dealer I work for.

He's saying that his particular truck doesn't have it. But they all used to come with all the workings even though they didn't actually have keyless entry. For those people, all they had to do was buy a key fob and have it programmed and it worked. There are threads about it here which is where I heard about it.

Gotcha but AFAIK, you can't get an XE Titan with power windows/locks unless you get the preferred package too. Catch my drift?

Keyless entry and pushing a button on your key fob to unlock the doors are two different things. Keyless entry is one of those things on the door handle with numbers and you punch in a code, you don't need a key or key fob. Key fob is pushing the button on the key fob on your key ring and locking/unlocking the doors. I think the Titans with power door locks are key fob capable. You have to add "keyless entry" not even sure if it is an option on the Titans.

A little too much analysis there.

To me and everyone else I know, keyless entry means that you can enter a vehicle without using a physical key to manually turn and unlock the door lock.

The key fob = keyless entry. You do not have to have a key with you to unlock the door. Just the key fob.

So you are saying if I have a titan XE 2008 crew cab with power locks, then it does have Preferred Pkg?? And you are also saying all I need to buy is a key fob and have it programmed?

He's saying you shouldn't have to buy anything. You should have gotten key fobs to begin with. Go back to the dealer.
