Question Defrost Vent Accident

Hi everybody,
I've got a problem!! I was going to work one morning and set my coffee (with milk in it) on the dash. Forgot it was there and took off. Well you can guess what happened. I spilled coffee all over the dash, floor, seats and console. I managed to get all of it up (I think) except what fell into the defrost vent. Well now a week later my truck smells like spoiled milk when I get into it every morning. Is there any way I can get into the defrost vents other than take my dash apart. Or a drain somewhere. I can't handle that smell. Any help would be greatly appeciated!!

Re: Defrost Vent Accident

It would be a good idea to start by replacing the cabin air filter.

There are some products out there that you can run through your vents that will attempt to clean out any deposits in your ducts and vents. BG sells a great product, I think it is called Fridgi-Fresh, but it is not sold at retail locations as far as I know.

Re: Defrost Vent Accident

thats a good one, to clean it, yes you have to take the dash apart well most of it. If you need pis of the dash apart I can post them here for you. I have the Titan manual on CD.

Re: Defrost Vent Accident

So you need to kill the bacteria that's brewing in there now. Before replacing your in-cabin filter, take a bottle of lysol and spray the hell out of that vent. Let sit, run the system, repeat a few times. Then let it dry and then change the filter. You may get lucky and kill it all. Of course the only way to be sure is to take it apart and clean it by hand.

Re: Defrost Vent Accident

Maybe spill some Clorox or something similar in there.

OR just get a "NEW CAR SCENT" freshner and eveything be new again..... Just kidding.
I'll try to get the dash apart and clean t because that is bacteria in it now. And next time remember our Titans have plenty of cup holders.
