Engine Ticking ????

Anyone notice there engine ticking intermittently. It's not the normal tick / injectors. It is coming from the driverside back somewhere.

Re: Engine Ticking ????

Does it vary with engine speed? If so, you may have a cracked or crack manifolds. Take it in to the dealer and have them fix it under the 5yr/60K powertrain warranty.

Yes it does vary, But would it come and go? Seems like when it runs for a while it does it, then if I shut it off and let it cool, then start it back up, Let it run for a little then it comes back. Maybe the crack is expanding with heat. Sounds logical. It's funny you mention the cracked manifold my Brother said it sounds like an exhaust leak also. Thanks

Re: Engine Ticking ????

Mine did that when I ran 93 winter fuel in it. Switched to non-E10 87 octane and it went away.

You should have them throw on some JBA long tubes instead, I mean while they're going to be up there...

Re: Engine Ticking ????

Well call them up and rearrange it! They can rearrange the schedule at your stealership long enough to get some headers in...

I'm gonna stop by the stealers in the AM to see what there working on. They also had to replace the Heater box and the whole front Diff Assy. Hopefully they don't stock the exhaust manifolds. That will give me some time to get some headers.

Just look around on the exhaust manifolds for carbon buildup, That's usually a sign of a leak in that area. I think that there is one point on the manifold that was prone to cracking due to not enough support and I guess the whole exhaust system is putting pressure on the manifolds. Don't quote me though. I'm sure someone will chime in. I won't know till tomorrow exactly where mine are cracked. Just take it in and tell them about the ticking that comes and goes and it sounds like an exhaust leak.
