Diff oil level low

I checked the oil level today and it is low, I asked this question on the tech threads alongwith my leaking rear seal and realy need some help here.... "on trying to find the 75W140 synthetic oil on the island I drew a blank, they have the 75W90 Redline and can order in the 140 but it will take at least 3+ weeks so if it's low what would anyone recommend I use. They also have the dino 140 grade."

I'm assuming you mean the rear differential. In that case SYNTHETIC 75W-140 is the oil you must use. Many different companies produce the gear oil so you don't have to just get Redline. Many people here use AMSOIL, Royal Purple, Redline, Mobil1 and the list goes on. If it were me, I would not go cheap on my differential oil. If you order it from amsoil.com (Severe Gear 75W-140), it usually take a couple of days to get it at the most.

As far as the leaking seal, if it's under warranty take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it.

If you have any more questions, please let us know so that we can steer you in the right direction.

Re: Diff oil level low

thanx for the reply Juday, I know I have to do the seal change, yes it is the rear and I have to use my truck, I live in the Caribbean and the warranty is not valid here so the Nissan "stealer" says over here.

Low oil level is my immediate concern. I have ordered the 75w140 syntec, comes out of Puerto Rico and Redline is what they have. They only ship oil on a sea going vessel that is why it's 3+ weeks at best. I also ordered the seal, bearing etc. to cure the leak as the stealer here could not even do that along with me making a start on the vent mod I have read on the forum.

So with 3 weeks to go, or more!! what oil should I put in, top up with, while I wait for the right oil and the seal replacement. If I have to waste a few $$$ on oil and not a whole bunch on the axle replacement I will.

I would call Nissan on the warranty issue. The warranty is through Nissan not your dealership. The dealership just does the work. How did you come across a Titan in the Caribbean anyhow? I though the Titan was a North America only thing for Nissan?

Hey, no problem that's what we're here for. Also, if you are ever curious, the front differential takes synthetic 75W-90 oil. The amount of oil replaced in the rear differential should be 4.2 pints (2.1 quarts). The front differential is 3.4 pints (1.7 quarts).

I will try them on this but the warranty does state where it applies and St Kitts is not listed. Anyways I needed a new truck, was looking at importing a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma then started seeing Titans on the sale classifieds & internet. They kinda caught my eye as being the truck of all trucks so I researched more and decided in spite of the axle problem that's the way to go. There are two on St. Kitts right now the other being a SE KC, shame the warranty does not apply here though otherwise its an awesome machine
