Heavy towing

I have the 08 and am considering towing at or near the 8800lb mark. Anyone have any experience doing this? I know that alot of people do this without even knowing it. In particular, the toy hauler crowd who have trailers with inaccurate weight stickers. I am looking at the trailer side. Also, did the tow rating increase with the bigger brakes and other stuff for the 08? I cannot see how the Tundra is rated for alot more than the Titan. Thanks.

I tow the TT in my avitar. It's weighs over 8000LBS (not sure of the exact weight) and is 32' long. I towed it fine with my 04 CC and now will be hauling it with my new 08 CC LWB. As long as you have the right weight distributing hitch and brake controller, it'll tow just fine. Just be sure to use tow mode and keep it in 4th like the manual says and you'll drag that hauler anywhere you want without any problems.
No, the tow ratings didn't increase for 2008, but you'll tow better/safer with the larger brakes. Anyone towing 10k+ LBS on a regular basis would be foolish to do it with a 1/2 ton. The Tundra claims it'll tow over 10k LBS yet doesn't have a fully boxed frame like our Titans. Once in a while it'll be fine but I wouldn't do it often.

Hey Derwud- do you have the same problem with RV(dot)net? That site is down more than it's up!

Mrhavasu- I have a Jayco which is around 7500+ lbs and about 31'. I'm also towing with a 6" lift and have had no issues. My next mod I want to do would definitely be the brakes. Make sure you have a good WD hitch and brake controller. I have the Equali-z-er with the 1200lbs bars and a Prodigy brake controller. Like HVT said, anyone towing 10K should just get a 3/4 ton to be safe.

Re: Heavy towing

Yeah, I use some of the other Portals to get to it like Trailer Life or Camping World.

The only thing I would add to your list is Air Bags with individual lines. My set-up is really stable..

That RV.net is pure unadulterated crap! It's up maybe 17 minutes a week. I gave up on it long ago and after reading this thread, I tried to look at it?....it's DOWN as per usual!
