This is the first time this has happened to me. I was trying to wait out the gas prices, causes normally when I fill up gas drops a few cents. But anyway, I waited about two days while driving on E and gas only dropped two cents, I went to start my truck and wouldn't you know it wouldn't start, just gave that chugging sound (you know when you're out of gas). So I fill my mini gas can (2 gals, I know I bought this when I had my motorcycle) put the two gallons in and off to the gas station I went. Filled up and the tank only took 21 gallons (+ the 2 from gas can, 23 total). The Titan has a 28 gal tank, any ideas why it wouldn't turn over with 5 gals left in the tank?
That is odd. Were you parked on a slope? If so, maybe the fuel pickup in the tank was sucking air. I just ran my 37 gallon tank down to "E" and filled up with about 34 gallons (~$120!!!!!!!!).....so my truck was still truckin' with only 3 gallons in the tank.

hmm....i think that woulda had to been a pretty steep slope. but ya never know. never heard of that myself. ive ran the tank down to very close to empty, 20-30 miles left in the tank per my scangauge. and it was still running just fine.
I was on level pavement. I thought it was my battery at first, but everyone in the parking lot knew the sound before I even told them I was out of gas. But, I won't be waiting out the gas pumps again that's for sure.

So you saved forty-six cents?

Well, guess I won't be waiting out the gas prices either. the other day I saw a gas station with $2.99/gallon, so I make a b-line for the station and filled up. That was four days ago, now the cheapest i have seen is around $3.10/gallon....Gas prices are getting ridiculous....

i agree that's weird, and I don't have any ideas right now...My truck is like most, when the light comes on I've got about 7 gals left, that's at about 1/8 tank. I have driven past that all the way to "E" on the gauge and the most it took was 25 gals...

I ran completely out of gas on a back road before. The kicker was that my wife told me that I need to stop and get gas before it happened. Now she reminds me about that day every time the light comes on! It took ~3 gallons to get the truck fired back up when the tank was bone dry.
The 28 gal tank has 8 gallons left when the light first comes on. I've driven 525 miles on 1 tank before! When refilling, it took 27.8 gal!!

Excellent!
You can just make the Meet in Rockingham, NC in June on a tank.
It's 500 miles from you!

WOW!!! 525 miles on 1 tank. Boy, what I would give to get that monthly. I have only maxed 425, and that was strictly highway, but it was consistently. Don't know what I will get now, but will find out on my drive from VA to KS.

I'm lucky to get 285 miles per tank. Filled up today at 250 miles on 22 gallons and thats 3/4 highway driving. Barely 11mpg. I get excited when I see 12 mpg. If I ever saw 15 mpg, I would have to rub one off right there at the gas station.
