You can't tackle the truck market with your first attempt. Respect is earned and slowly adopted, ESPECIALLY in the loyal truck market. Look how many renditions the Tundra has gone through to get the ~190K sales it got this past year! Expect nearly the same path for the Titan. It takes time.
You guys got more faith in Nissan than I got. I figure if I am Nissan and my Titan sales are sinking and news has been spreading that the Titan might be cancelled, I am going to be pumping out some rumors like Toyota did and I would be talking about the new Diesels comming soon. New trucks are not designed overnight and drivetrains are tested thouroughly. Something stinks here. You can bet there is no new 09 Titans and maybe no 2010 either. With gas prices going crazy and sales of trucks going down, Nissan is probably just holding and waiting to see what happens. They will continue to offer new bling but no big changes. I would not be surprised to see them drop the Titan and stay with smaller trucks. They are using the 5.6 in the Pathy now also. It seems the after market guys know what is going on too and I see no one going flat out building new aftermarket parts. Look at the new Tundra, aftermarkets are busy as hell.

Folks, do yourselves favor and google Nissan's sales numbers by model. The Titan is their 4th or 5th best selling vehicle. It trails the Sentra, Altima, Murano and I think barely is behind the Rogue and Versa. It is outselling the Maxima, Frontier, XTerra, Pathfinder, 350Z, and Armada. People need to remember Nissan is not as large as GM, Ford, Toyota or even Honda. Smaller manufacturer makes less cars, fewer models has fewer dealerships and has fewer sales as a result. They do quite well if you look at them for what they are. Remember the Big 3 truck sales include their HD/SD models. Edit those sales out and it is much closer.

if you look at the new truckin magazine volume 34 no.5 thier is an article saying that nissan and chrysler to join.thier are even pics of a titan body with a ram front end emblem on the side says v8 titan.i'll type it out word for word "forbes has reported that nissan and chrysler are closer to an aggrement on nissan building small cars that would be sold as chryslers. earlier rumors hinted that dodge would handle the 2nd generation titan and essentially have a titan skin over ram underpinnings. we'd like to know whether or not the new titan will continue to offer it's 5.6 v-8 or have a version of the soon to be upgraded 5.7l hemi". end quote. if theat the case it would be a titan body with the new ram underneath it so we get a 5.7 hemi doing 0-60 in 6.0 sec faster then the tundra and more powerfull then the tundra. but yet get an additional 4% increase in gas milage. also the new ram does have a new rear suspension 5 link no leafs. what do you guys think
look how as he nears the end of his comment, it ends up turing into an advertisement...I hate those editors at truckin' and douchebag dodge lovers

Ghosn is a ****ing idiot for even mentioning that he might kill the titan... he should have just taken a picture of our resale value and lit it on fire. What a ****ing moron.

When did Ghosn say any such thing? I heard the rumor myself but wasn't aware that he said it.

It was on Autoblog. The quotes where supposed to be from a Newsweek interview they did with Goshn.Honestly, I've not read the Newsweek article,so it could just be rumor.IF Goshn did say it, I don't see how he would think that would help matters any.I also agree with a poster above,it will take years to get any kind of real "footing" in the full size truck market, but it can be done if Nissan stays the course.
It won't make sense to have a new Titan in 09. GMC/Chevy had a new model in 07. Toyota just got their Tundra. Both Dodge and Ford will be capturing the attention in 09 and they will fight it out for Truck of the Year. 2010 will be a quiet year and that's when you introduce the new redesigned Titan where all the attention will be on it (though Ford and Dodge might introduce their new HD version). Although numbers don't lie, I live in a small town and now I see Titans coming and going. I myself had an 04 and now an 08. I think the more Titan out there the more people are going to realize that there are other options out there. What most people don't know is what good value the Titan is compared to the others. my 4X4 CC LE LB was thousands less than a comparably equipped Toyota. The Titan and Armada share many part and are built on the same assembly line. They will continue making the Titan as long they are building the Armada. I actually see more Titans than Armadas around here. I think the question that will impact this whole segment is gas prices. Although I can drive my Accord when prices goes to $4 and drive the Titan when I need it instead of daily driver, not everyone can afford to have many cars parked in the driveway. I think this will be a more determining factor in the succes of most trucks these days.

I would like to point out that here in Las Vegas I see TONS of Titans driving around! They seem as popular as the Fords and Chevys! I know that can’t be true looking at the numbers but I personally believe Nissan Titans are selling very well here in Las Vegas.
There doesn’t seem that much of a negative stigma buying foreign here as in other parts of the county. I believe in some rural mid east towns people get downright angry at the sight of a foreign truck. Guess they don’t know about the big three having parts made in Mexico and Canada.
This is the Newsweek interview with Ghosn that started
the "rumor" that Nissan MAY be looking at killing the Titan. http://www.newsweek.com/id/78147
Thanks. Yeah that articles been here before. I just don't see anywhere where Ghosn makes any such claim. Oh well....that's how rumors get started I guess.
