Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

350Z and Titan, 3 degress of seperation

Just alittle useless triva.

Have a new 2008 Z, San Marino Blue. Went on the web to see what/where San Marino is. Guess there is a place in Cali called San Marino and a place in Italy. The San Marino in Italy in on a Mountain named "Titano". Just drop the "O" and you have Titan.

Other oddities.
The Titan and the Z have the same HP. (2004 Titan 306, 2008 Z 306)
I am Dolphin football fan (yes, thank you for you condolences) and my Z color has Dan Marino's name in it.

Weird huh?

Is the engine in the Z a V-8? It cannot be the same engine - right? Perhaps the extra horses come from the turbo.

The Zs engine is the VQ V6 and is not turbo charged. The Titans V8 has more HP than the Zs and far more torque. But I love that VQ motor! Nissan puts it in damn near everything including the wifes Quest.

Re: Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

Our motor is essentially a VQ, but with 2 more cylinders. Thats how Uprev is so knowledgeable with tuning these trucks. No custom tuner would ever put as much timing in these trucks as Uprev does......why? Because they are specialists in the VQ/VK motors.

But for real.....puff puff give.

Re: Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

I think the 2007 and 2008 Z motor is called something different. New to this vehicle, so I could be wrong. I think there is a HR in there somewhere. I have seen the Z guys talking about it in their forum. I'd ask them but alot of them take themselves too seriously. I have to worm my way into their iron clad hearts.

One of the guys there with a good sense of humor photoshoped a Dan Marino Blue Z. Sounds alot like a San Marino Blue Z.

It's still called the VQ in the Z. They changed from the VQ35DE to the newer VQ35HR. Power is up to 313HP.

Nice info. I owned a G35 and now a Titan.

Re: Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

we've had a few VQ's in the family - currently the wife drives a Pathy with the 4.0 version of the VQ. Great engine.

I want a Z!

Re: Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

I keep trying to talk the girl into a z, but she wont drive standard, and I am not going to buy an automatic. I thought the z was going to be bumped to 3.7 like the g35.

Re: Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

I think they are for the next version of Z. Ya, so I guess the HR tag is on the end of the engine description. Does anyone know what that means?

So HudsonValley, my 2008 Z is up to 313? The literature and sticker said 306 I think. Cool if it is bumped up alittle. Maybe underated like the Titan 1st was?

The newest G will be the G37 (coupe I believe) and I'm hearing about the Z moving up to a new moniker of 370Z.

I have the auto, it has a manual mode also. It's pretty good. And the GF can drive it if I need her to.

Re: Titan and 350Z, 3 degrees of seperation

Todays autos aren't the power sapping, wrong gear selectors of yesterday. With 0-60 times the same as their manual counterparts (in a lot of cases anyhow), you can get the same effect without all the work. I prefer to row my own sports cars but others don't...and don't have to anymore.
