Offroad lights in fog light holes

I want to fill the holes in my bumper where the factory fog lights go. However, I don't think fog lights are really worth the money, not bright enough and really don't do anything. Has anyone been able to put a set of offroad lights in there instead of fog lights? I would obviously run new wires to a switch so they are not on all they time. Any ideas?

Re: Offroad lights in fog light holes

hmm...not sure if ive seen it done. but sounds like a good idea!!! the fog lights do make a difference when driving, but i agree, they really arent that bbright. offroad lights would be a much better option to put in there...if that works. but i dont see why it wouldnt.

Pretty much any of the aftermarket 4" lights should fit. I'd say you'll have to fab up a mounting bracket more than likely.

Re: Offroad lights in fog light holes

Although I agree that fog lights there (in the factory bumper holes)for the most part don't really provide enough light to make much difference, off-road lights need to be mounted higher to really get the light out. Lights mounted in the bumper do have a clean look, but still won't put out the light I need.

Also, the bigger the light diameter, the more light output everything else being equal.

My lights have to provide lots of light in the middle of nowhere (desert?) not look a cool color while cruising down the street...

Re: Offroad lights in fog light holes

Hella optilux fit perfect in there and they run a standard H3 bulb. Pair will only run you $50. I switched mine out for LED only cuz I could never use the regular bulbs as they were way too bright to use on regular roads

Re: Offroad lights in fog light holes

try running some HID's in the stock fog lights most of the time at night u just run my fog lights and dont even turn on my Hid low beams untill i hit the dark streets. I have 6000K bulbs in them and they shoot out about 150 feet and about a 50-70 foot wide beam ill try and get some pics of them on at night
