I have the peace of mind of a 100K mile gold preferred Nissan warranty, but the way it's been running, I doubt I'll benefit from it. I'll probably get a second or third year vehicle and not get an extended warranty next time though.
Btw, are hybrids actually worthwhile with their battery replacement costs, (probably getting there since gas is at close to $4/gal)? Any hybrid 1/2 tons or mid sized trucks out? ... don't want a station-wagon looking SUV thingy.

The Titan being discontinued is probably just some rumour created by a junior marketing executive at Nissan to entice more consumer interest in the model lineup.
A simple body panel/ interior refreshening (ala 2009 F-150) with a modest hp/tq increase is all the next gen Titan needs. Release the 4.5L based V8 diesel as soon as possible for those that need one and make the Frontier 4.0L V6 the base engine or an option credit. The Armada/QX56 will no doubt stay around as the premier fullsized SUV for Nissan/Infinity so not having the Titan doesn't make sense. Much higher profits in those cash cows no doubt, but the more variants you have under the same platform reduces tooling costs hence higher overall profits for the manufacturer. Remember the Chrysler K-car?LOL!

Most all the articles I find talk about the Titan but I did see some news about the Armada and QX56. Looks like those lines will be changing as well. Only commercial vehicles will be produced in Canton after 2010.
I guess it's true then. Chrysler underpinnings with a "Nissan" designed body. Ugh, this stinks. I don't want a basterdized Ram/Titan K-car half breed. To add insult to injury, they're not even going to call the new truck a Titan. So much for brand name model heritage. Nissan "Titan" owners have just became obsolete.
Big engine standard, silky smooth 5sp auto trans, nimble handling, fullyboxed frame, sensible body/bed choices and TASTEFUL styling. The Titan was born to fail I guess. Too much of a good value in a pleasing asthetic package. Go figure.

Thanks for the link. 500 miles would be nice. I just had to fill up with 24.6 gallons yesterday, only 298 miles ... $95.
At least the pumps don't cut off at $75 anymore at the station I usually go to.
If you're spending $900 a month in gas,it is most likely freeway driving. The Hybrid's economy numbers are strong in mostly city driving. You could get a Sentra $10k cheaper and get the same highway mileage.
The Hybrid's are being built because of Gov't pressure to build an alternative to being reliant on foreign oil,Nissan is so uncomitted to it, they are using Toyota's system on their Altima.
We should face it, Nissan did a crappy job advertising, fixing major problems in a timely manner and poor customer service. If Nissan had the Tundra it would probably have met the same fate. I don't really see how Dodge can mess things up any worse, especially if Nissan uses the v56 engine or Cummins engines. Dodge is already using Nissan trannies in some cars so I would think we will see them in the new truck, probably the new 6 or 7 speed they have developed. I seen a patent for a 8 speed they are testing. I think these trannies will be the answer to our gas mileage problems down the road. Tow mode will keep tranny in high rpms for pulling or whooping a chevy and driving mode will be about 1500 rpm at 70-75 mph. I guess they won't call it a Ram so probably have to go with Goat.

Truer words have not been spoken.
As someone who has worked in advertising all my life, I can't beloieve just how poorly Nissan has handled the Titan.

I have been driving Nissan pickups since they were called Datsun. To think that after finally getting a great full-size truck Nissan will discontinue the product line is just too much for me to think about.
