Keep in mind, the Titan as we currently know it was going to end pretty soon regardless. If Nissan had come out with an all new model themselves our trucks would be just as "canceled", just as obsolete. What's the big deal? If Nissan can't economically bring a full size to market in compliance with 2011 specs then kudos to them for finding what I am sure they see as a win-win way to keep the namesake alive.
No need to feel abandoned or betrayed just because a car company assessed a troubled market and found a more sensible way to maintain a presence-just look around, as the downturn continues economies of scale continue to rule the day. I suspect most of us would have made a similar call given the same facts if we were responsible for a large company.
There is another 2 years, and alot can change in 2 years!!
I plan on keeping and rebuilding mine, as I really like the one I have.
Hold your breath and wait!! LOL
You never know, the new beast might be better than the old one!!!!

Good observation, and I do like the fact that Nissan will play a BIG role in design of the truck. We don't have much info yet, but I can deal with a common frame with Dodge if thats all it is. I'm not crazy about being built in Mexico, but I'm willing to wait and see what the final product is before judgement. My 05 may be gone before then though....just not sure what the replacement will be. I read how a lot of people are looking at Toyota. I did myself actually, but after really looking at it, I just don't like it. The outside is ok, but I can't get used to the inside....just isn't classy enough and lets face it....you see that more than any other!
I would like to remind you all that this is a TRUCK! go back 30 years and look at the interiors... I don't expect my truck to be outfitted like a luxury car, then I'd feel bad about getting into it dirty.
As far as the rumors with Dodge are concerned It's too early to be concerned in my opinion.. You don't know if it's a marketing ploy or not... be patient and enjoy knowing you drive a real Titan despite what happens in the future...
Maybe it will be better, maybe not, but it will be different. All model's of every car go through changes.
As far as being built in Mexico, all parts from all cars essentially come from all over the world anyway, so it isn't as big a deal as some people make it out to be.

Searched for a Titan for a year, almost bought several before....
Red Brawn 4X4 Crew Cab w/Bench Seat, Tow Package, Utility Bed, Popular Package, Floor Mats, Wheel Locks, Bug Shield, Mud Guards, UnderSeat Storage Bin.
I didn't like the way the Tundra rode / handled. The interior with its easily scratched painted silver plastic is unacceptable. Nothing a refresh couldn't solve.
I am garaging mine right now as it will clearly be worth what I paid for it in 30 years due to the limited number (8 or so years worth) of Titans that were actually made by Nissan.

Ditto to the interior.I hope they go military with the interior myself.
Gotta love how people on this board jump to conclusions at the drop of a hat. Geez...people, feed you a little blurb of info not cut in stone and you already have Nissan out of business!...like a bunch of gossiping house frows! Relax.

Thats like telling Silverado owners GM having Toyota build them a Silverado replacement. They're already in bed together on a few projects. GM has major labor and cash problems, and Toyota's hemoraging cash. I'm joking of course, but loyalties run deep here and to have a company known for major QA issues themselves building our future trucks dosnt sit well with me or alot of others here.
Plus, the big 3 have a horrible track record of badge enginering gone wrong.

shouldn't we all be thankful that we have titans and what is the big deal of it not going into production anymore? i am clearly missing something
The big deal is that the truck is not that old. Only 6 years in production and they're already talking about getting rid of it. Both the F-Alpha based LT platform and the nameplate. The minimal changes for '08 should have clued us in, but I was hopeful for a next gen Titan like everybody else. Your right though, I'm glad I was able to get a REAL Nissan Titan.
The move to a reskinned Ram for the Titan replacement shows that Nissan wants out of the fullsized truck segment. They don't want to spend the necessary funds it would take to improve the F-Alpha LT platform. The Titan nameplate is a dirty word to them. They're losing money and would rather invest in more profitable (for them) investments like small economy world cars and crossover SUV's.
An '09 Dodge Ram with Nissan styling cues is basically a non effort. Just something to have on the dealer lots to fill out the fullsized truck segment. Like the Raider, Hombre, Mazda B2300 and others before it, it won't sell nearly as well as the parent truck it's based on and probably wont even eclipse the sales of the current truck. Nissan doesn't want to be a leader or innovate in the fullsized truck segment anymore.
