2008 XE without keyless entry

Hi I'm new here and hope someone can help. I just purchased a 2008 XE without keyless entry and the dealer said it didn't come with it. I do have power windows and locks but reading some posts say it may/may not be compatible for keyless entry. I've priced the FOBs on ebay but I don't know if it comes with the receiver already installed. Does anyone know if I can just purchase the FOBs and program them or do I need to purchase an entire keyless entry system including the receiver?

I also have an XE w/o keyless entry. From what I was told, you have to buy the whole system. There is no receiver for the FOB on the XE models. Just get an alarm with keyless entry, that's what I did.

All I had to do for my 06 XE was buy the fobs. The rest was already installed.
If I remember correctly, to program the truck, slide your key in and out of the ignition until the dash lights flash, then hold the lock button on the fob until the doors lock.

My 08 XE CC with the preferred package has keyless entry. I think I had to get the preferred package to get it, but power windows and locks are standard on the CC XE, but not available from the factory on the KC XE.

I have the XE without the preferred package and I tried to have them get me the keyless entry clicker at the dealership and they said they cant do it. Im just going to go ahead and get a remote start.

For 08, keyless entry is only available on an XE if it's a CC and has the PR package. XE KCs can't have it...even with the PR package.

It's hard to say. My guess is that all you need is the keyfobs themselves because you have the power windows etc. It's been done here before where members just bought the fobs and programmed them. No idea why the XE KC can't have keyless and the CC XE can though. You can always return the fob to the dealer if it doesn't work out.

i have a 07 CC XE. the dealer tried to program a FOB but couldn't get it to work. I read somewhere on here that there is a way to change the programming options with consult II. have yet to get it back to the dealer to try this

When you see the next screen it will say manual setting item over two columns. First column will say over the top of it Item. The second will say Set Val. Under the column that says Item there will be one that says Keyless Entry, across from it under the Set Val column is the current setting. If it says With then your truck is already set up for it, if it says Without then tap the screen over the word Without and it will change to with. Then press change and it will start to print the list of manual setting items and the list of auto setting items. I will also have the part # of your bcm which should be 284B2-ZJ20A. Then press OK. Since you are already in the bcm area go to the part to program the remotes and program them. I have the Consult printout where I did this in my hand but for some reason my scanner does not want to scan them or any thing else for that matter. Oh the part where it says auto setting items the dealer cannot touch. I know it would be tempting to try to change some of these other items because I have read a bunch of other threads about some of them but the dealer can't.

Thanks for the advice! Where do I go to change the programming with the consult II? Is this something I can do or does it have to be done by the dealer?

The dealer has to do it and for 08, it's the consult 3. They can turn certain options on and off thru that handheld. Talk to someone in service...or the service manager.

08 XE king cab does not come with power windows or locks, in the brochure the are listed as N/A on KC, so no locks mean no remote enty
