Steering rack

I have a clicking in my rack when I turn it almost like its popping out or over exsending. Anyone have this or had........ I need to tell my dealer because they dont know a dam thing. You can hear it inside and outside. Seems to be just to the inner componets. Its not around the hub or cv's.

Re: Steering rack

I have a rattle in my steering column. I don't think it is rack related. I remember reading here recently about 2 bad racks that kinda of made a groaning sound.

Re: Steering rack

I had a clicking noise in my steering column also. Took truck to dealer and they couldn't find anything, even when they used what they called "electronic ears", clicking noise got worse, second trip to the dealer they ordered a new steering column assembly for the truck (under warranty). Have had no issues since.

Re: Steering rack

I had a bunch of clicking and poping going on especially when making a u turn or going in or out of driveways at an angle. Finnally my rack split apart in the center and blasted oil all over the street. any ideas how i can strengthen my new rack so it does not happen again.
