Towing Question

This may seem like a silly question. I just got a 2006 Nissan Titan. I pull a bass boat that weighs about 1900 lbs. The manual is somewhat vauge on the towing aspects. When I tow the boat and put it in tow mode, do I need to go to 4th gear or do I leave it in drive and the tow mode makes the necessary adjustments so I don't kick into overdrive? I do not want to cause any transmission trouble. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Towing Question

if it starts to down shift on its own then put it in 4th. thats not alot of weight so you wii just have to see what it does also if you have alot of hills where your at then most likely you will have too put it in 4TH

Re: Towing Question

Do you have the BT on your truck? That tranny temp gauge can be your best friend!

Re: Towing Question

Combine what both of the above posters have said. It's not a lot of weight, so you'll probably be fine in 5th, but if you have the gauge, watch it. If it starts to climb, put her in 4th. The tow mode will not make the adjustment to keep you of ouf O/D, it only raises the shift points in the first 3 gears to help you get it all moving more easily.
