As much as I love my Titan, I had to do something to cope with the rising gas prices... So, my Titan has been relegated to fishing duty on the weekends. Here's my new daily commuter...
My first full tank, which is 16 gallons, yielded me a nice 492 miles, which comes out to 30.75 mpg.

Good adjustment. Unfortunately several of us have had to resort to this situation too. Feels good to get that kind of mileage out of less mney doesnt it? The truck world is being rocked right now by crude prices. The only ones who will be driving and purposely buying trucks are going to be contractors and fleet applications.

The only thing that has me keeping my Titan is my commute to work is only 2.5 miles each way. I've owned it for 14 months and the odometer only reads 10,500 miles. My wife has an '08 Nissan Altima, which is getting 32 on the highway and 23 around town. I use that whenever I need. Gas prices are killing everyone in a variety of ways. I sure feel for the person that has a long commute each day, even if they drive a fuel efficient vehicle.

Smart. At least you didn't have to get rid of the truck like other have had to do. I picked up an 01 Bug that gets about 34 MPG but not because of my commute (it's only .9 miles each way) but because every time I see those ridiculously high prices at the pump, it just pisses me off. I'm at about a 1/2 tank on the Bug now....I filled it in February!

I bought a 96 saturn just over a year ago strictly for work. I have put over 25k miles on it in a year. I drive 400 miles to work one way, once every 7 days. I cost me 250 dollars to drive to and from work one time, now it cost me just under 100 dollars. I average 37mpg, and sometimes get better.
yeah I only used the Titan as a DD for two weeks and then got a 98 civic sedan which is gettinh 39 mpg which is great! Titan is the occasional play car now

I have a suspicion we may all find ourselves in the same situation sooner or later. Personally, I'm in the middle of refinancing my mortgage right now for 5.65% which is a lower intrest rate and rolling both car payments plus mother-in-law's Murano into the mortgage for about the same house payment I currently have now. The old mortgage was 5-years ago for 30 years and this one is for 25 years. It all worked out so that I'm basically yanking back out some of my equity w/o costing more due to the low rates, I couldn't pass up the opportunity if you know what I mean.

same here, my commute is less then half a mile (live on base). Plus I get deployed for 8 months every other year. It's an 05 and i just went over 20k miles two weeks ago. Otherwise I might have gotten rid of it awhile back.

Now you'll be paying for two cars and a Murano for 25 years....long after you've gotten rid of and forgotten about them.

So?? It's better than sending that money into intrest. The same payments, for the same term, what do I care?? I'm in a big house right now for the kiddies. Once they're off to college, the house will be sold for one 1/2 it's size and everything will be paid off then anyway so that mortgage will never be owed on until the end anyway.

You're still paying interest, except now it's spread out over 25 yrs. It's your business, but that still doesn't change the fact that its a bad financial move.
