Your kidding right?
You tax them and they charge more to make up the difference.
Why do you want to punish a company for making $? Communist much?
When oil companies hold the U.S. economy hostage by charging whatever they want for fuel and placing our troops in harms way by fighting no-win religous wars in oil rich third word countries, something needs to be done. If Iraq had no oil, we wouldn't even be over there.
I've got no problem against a company making profits. However, the type of obscene mind boggling profits big oil is making is crippling the U.S. economy. Make it too expensive to buy fuel, then the price of everything goes up as a result. Almost everything depends on the price of crude oil these days.

We need to stop putting oil in the STOR for a few months and reduce the # of grades/blends of fuel oil companies have to make.
That won't do it. They'll still charge more and make even greater profits. Better get ready for the Iran invasion, it's coming.

All Time Favorite TitanTalk Quote (in response to what type of Gasoline is best):
I personally prefer whatever's cheap. I'd club baby seals to death and squeeze oil from their limp little bodies if I could save a buck - Mr B
Yesterday I emptied out three 5 gallon containers of gas into my Titan. They have been sitting around since last summer. I keep gas on hand for yard work equipment, generator gas for hurricane season, emergency fill ups for the vehicles (3), etc...
I put the recommend amount of "Stabil" in the cans to keep it good (up to 2 years). Well yesterday when I poured it into the Titan I was at about a 1/4 tank in the truck. Poured three 5 gallon containers into the Titan and the gas needle showed about 3 hairs less than full. I know I will use this gas up within 3 to 4 weeks.
Then I went and filled up four 5 gallon tanks at the 7-11 in the area with the cheapest gas around, $3.59, 19.82 gallons. Total came to $71.34. Thats crazy, but I wanted "new", "fresh" gas storred for the next year. Hurricane season starts really soon.
I remember when we almost got wiped out from a series of hurricanes in 2004 that gas was scarce and you had to search for it because they were not resupplying the ports or trucking any new in because on a string of canes hitting in succession. There were long lines at the gas station and fist fights and a shooting at the pumps. People were stealing gennys and gas from peoples vehicles. I only ran my genny during the day so the thieves would not try to get mine when I fell asleep. Ran off battery power at night. I only had one 5 gallon tank then and the Genny ran alot of the time. 15 days without power. I don't wanna get caught like that again.
I don't like the gas prices anymore than anyone else, but I am really scared about what will happen with gas if we get substaintial cane damage again.
The truck sits alot now, we drive the Max or the Z alot more. If it got really bad we would try to survive with one vehicle. Scooters are looking better every day.
I know you have to pay to play but I can understand what people are saying and I agree with the topic especially for those that bought their Titan when it first came out.
In 2005 when I first moved down south I remember gas being in the 1.80's and now if you look at the price at the pump it has more than doubled to the 3.70's and higher in some places. So I think what is happening for some people is that it is extremely difficult to afford to drive a Titan as a daily driver because as the cost of living increases(fuel, economic instability, food, mortgages etc) and salaries either drop or remain the same it becomes a huge burden to keep your head above water. GAS TO DAM HIGH!!!!!!!!

And I heard on the radio that forecasters expect it to be an active hurricane season.
Said that last year too. If they say it often enough they will eventually get it right.
Even a broken watch is right twice a day.

The oil companies are only making a 10% profit, most all companies make more profit than that. The oil companies don't control the price of oil. They make lots of money, because they sell a lot. The cost of producing and drilling oil has gone way up. We had a oil company the other day launch a 407 to make a 2.5 hour flight for a tube of super glue. I am not sure what they needed it for, but they said they had to have it before dark.

They were losing a fortune and had to fix this in a hurry:

They better do something to help prevent pump damages because more and more people will get more desperate and may resort to doing something like that even when there's not a tornado. Drive-Offs will get to be more and more common too, we have to drive further to get places than most Europeans so it'll be a tougher pill for Americans to swallow.
They really should look into finding ways to make our existing vehicles more efficient if the prices are going to raise much more. We all know that additional Methane added during the winter time hurts our MPG's, seems like they'd be looking at ways to reformulate for better MPG's, no???

Oil companies are complaining that that they need these profits to start building or repairing their current refineries and infrastructure, but they should have been doing it all along instead of trying to build up capital now. It's their fault that they didn't plan ahead, and we shouldn't have to pay for their stupidity.
Back during Katrina, Mississippi all the way up to Hwy 82 was so bad that I was using the fuel out of the pontoon boat to drive to work and to travel out of town for Labor Day. I would go to work and end up on the line welding all night because of the call ins from people either trapped by fallen trees or can't get gas to go to work. I've been keeping the bass boat pretty full in case I have to do the same thing this year. I got lucky and remembered to fill the gas tank on the Mountaineer before I left out of town before Katrina, so as hurricane season begins, I'll be changing my regiment from once a week to every other day if there is even a mention of one coming towards Mississippi.
