Earlier today, I towed my Jeep Wrangler on a tow-bar. I used the manual-shift function to do it, rather than use the auto-transmission. My question is this, if I tow in the manual-shift mode, do I still have to engage the Tow Mode button?

Don't confuse "manual shift mode" in certain cars with our regular automatics.
What I mean is, if you put it in 3rd gear it still takes off in 1st, but only shifts up to 3rd. In a car with manual shift mode it works just like a manual but without a clutch.
I see that term thrown around every once in a while, so just thought I would clarify.

Put your truck in 4th to tow that Jeep, put the tow mode on and let the trans do the rest. It's excellent at minding it's own functions. I honestly don't see any advantage at all in manually running your trans through it's gears.

+1 to what Carbeaux said. I only pick the gears when I'm going downhill.
