Gas Mileage and Prices....

So I went to Vegas this weekend to visit my god son for his 1st Communion.

Gas $4.05/gallon here in Fontana

Head wind on way to Vegas, 75/80 mph whole trip.

MPG 15.4 as dash gauge says.

have slightly under half tank by gauge left.

seems normal....

Way home.

Gas in Vegas. $3.67/gallon

Tail wind on way back, 75/80 mph

MPG 14.3 as Dash gauge says.

Have a little bit over half tank as gauge shows.

Both Directions used cruise control.

Both Gas stations being Chevron.

Just thought I'd share, still trippin out on the mpg though lol

Re: Gas Mileage and Prices....

same amount of uphills as downhills when you take the same route

Same grade gas from the same gas stations ( chevron 89 octane )

odd indeed

Temps leaving Fontana Friday were 101-109f comming back through Death Valley 113f though the rest averaged same temps

Re: Gas Mileage and Prices....

premium is 405-411 in atlanta.... some people say certain brands of gas give them better mpg (aka top tier gas). i havent noticed such. too many other factors. at play

Not really. You have to compare the elevation of your start point and end point. Going one direction you will have more or longer uphills than downhills (or vice versa) than in the the other.

In this case, however, this doesn't explain your mileage difference. According to the interwebitudes, Vegas is about 1000 ft higher than Fontana.
