Well my factory rotors feel as though they are warped and before I wasted x amount of time talking to my local stealership I figure I would ask the gurus on here if warped rotors are covered under the factory warranty or will the stealership tell me its my fault and wont fix it?
I own an 06 KC and dont run that hard and when I come to a stop I feel the steering while going side to side a little when braking and its a pain. All replies are greatly appreciated!
I had a slight runout in my front rotors on my 06 that was corrected by the dealer. They replaced both front rotors and pads with new under my 36K warranty. I would definitely take it in and just say you feel a vibration when braking, etc. Don't say "my rotors are warped"; let them come up with a diagnosis and see what they are willing to do to correct it. DO NOT let them turn your rotors (my personnel opinion), for the following reasons:
#1) It's a dealer cop out so they don't have to replace the rotors
#2) It decreases the thickness of the rotor, decreasing the useful life
#3) If there was rotor run-out to begin with, it will be more likely to occur again with the now thinner rotors.
Take it in and see what they'll do for you. If they are any type of reputable dealer, and you are still under your 36K warranty, they should take care of you. Good Luck.

They extended the factory warranty for brakes on the 04s and maybe some 05s. They later came out with new rotors and pads. Make sure you have the updated units. You can try dealing with the SM at your local dealer. Be nice, they will sometimes goodwill it if it's not actually covered.

Rotors can be warped by tightening the lug nuts out of sequence, washing the wheels while the brakes are still hot, braking hard with a heavy load, etc, which is why they're not covered under warranty.
Either you just got lucky, or you've spent a lot of money in thier service dept.

I have an early '05 SE 4x4 and have already had the rotors replaced not once, but TWICE! The 04 and 05 Titans' brakes were warrantied for 36 months from date of service which, in my opinion is ignorant. My second set of rotors were replaced in May of '07 and guess what...I had the dealer check my brakes last week and he says the front rotors are starting to warp...WTF!!! Well, since I bought the truck in Jan. '05, my 36 months are up (even though the new rotors weren't installed until 5/07).
Now why in the world would I spend the money for new factory rotors when I am only getting 12k miles out of them?
I guess it's time to look for a better set of brakes
Wow I had the brake fix done on my 05 in march of 06, 55000 miles later and they are still smooth. I tow and tow a lot.
Other 05 had brake fix done 7000 miles in July of 2006, 36,000 miles ago and still smooth. this truck tows and tows a lot and is the primary TT tow vehicle.

Then everyone else on here who's had rotors replaced under warranty must be lucky also. Generally, rotors could be difficult to get replaced under warranty, but based on the nature of the beast we are dealing with, it's worthwhile for the OP to take his truck in and see what they'll do for him.

1) Make sure you are getting the updated rotors and the delaership is not just turning them or using up old stock. Don't be skeptical, it has happened to some here.
2) IIRC the 36 month extention applied to the brake pads and rotors and was not linked to the vehicles 3yr/36, so if you had a new set installed on 5/07 you should still be covered.
To the OP, take it in. You have nothing to lose. It is not uncommon to have rotors warp due to material defects. Friend had his 95 Bronco go through 4 pair under warranty before he got a set that didn't warp.
FWIW I just replaced mine with slotted units from Powerstop. Got them through Brakewarehouse.com. Great people. Knew their stuff and knew all about the Titan's brake history. He specifically ordered me 06-07 rotors to avoid any chance of getting the old style that had the warpage issues.

It looks like there is a service bulletin for that on 04's & 05's.
I agree that he should take it in. I just wouldn't say the dealer is not reputable if they decide not to do anything about it.

It'll be hit or miss...the TSB is to your advantage, but depending on how many miles you have on the rotors the dealer might not resurface/replace them.
Just for giggles I called my service advisor I always deal with. She told me on both my 2005 Titans I have 3 year unlimited mileage on the rotors. I asked if that was for all 2004 and 2005 trucks and she yes.

Better to have a Titan than a Loose'n
Thx for all the replies, I will be taking it in next monday and see what they tell me. If they dont do anything I will be upgrading to some power slots and decent pads.............just dont let the wife know.
There seems to be a lot of confusion as to the additional warranty applied to te brake TSB. I've had 2 different dealers tell me that you get 36 months unlimited miles on the brake pads/rotors FROM DATE OF SERVICE of the vehicle and NOT from the time of the brake fix. I know that sounds ignorant, but that is what they are telling me.
What are you guys hearing? Is this, in fact true, or are they feeding me a bunch of BS?
If anyone has proof, please post here. I want to make the dealer eat it!!!
I had brake judder when I applied the brakes at hwy speeds, so I went to the dealer and they replaced the rotors under warranty.
