Miles Question

Just found out today that both exhaust manifolds on my 2004 SE are cracked. Got an estimate for $1200 to repair. My problem is I have 105,000 miles on my truck and am kinda torn on whether to get it fixed or not.

Probably a stupid question, but any idea how many miles unmodified Titans are making it without dying?

Thanks

Mine cracked at 90k. Nissan replaced under "goodwill" warranty. The service writer tells me that if I was over 100k they wouldn't have even considered. I would have considered aftermarket headers too if Nissan didn't replace. I wonder how many miles I will get out of the new ones?

Re: Miles Question

Is your truck paid off? If you have no payments on the Titan I'd get it fixed and drive it until it falls apart. That's just my opinion. If you are payment free then $1200 (or aftermarket headers ) is relatively cheap compared to taxes, fees, and a few hundred dollar note each month. How has the Titan been for you in the first 100K? As long as it has been maintained, I don't think you should have a problem going 150K and beyond.

Re: Miles Question

Not yet paid off, but getting close.

Found a guy who will put 'em for just over $1000 but am concerned about possible valve damage. All the shops I have talked to say don't drive for very far, but to be honest, I'm not sure how long they have been cracked and it's probably a safe bet I've put 2500 miles or more on it.

Re: Miles Question

you can get JBA headers off Ebay all day for like $380 or so, then figure about max $200 for install you are looking waaaay cheaper than going with OEM manifolds and you will get a performance boost to boot

Re: Miles Question

I concur with looking at the aftermarket. Sounds like if you get a little creative you can have your headers replaced for a lot less than $1
