Help/Ideas/Suggestions, broken mirror! :-(

Hello there. I just recently traded mirrors with another member and one of the mirrors I received was broken. It was not the other guys fault or anything, it broke when it was shipped, sh*t happens. Anyways....... Now I just need to see how I can fix it. It is a tow mirror and the little mirror on the bottom is the part that broke. As you can see in the pictures, the plastic piece that sticks out and holds the mirror on with the ball joint to allow it to rotate snapped. The piece inside the mirror, or the ball thing, is just loose inside. I do not think I will be able to fix it to where it can move and rotate like it could before it was broken. But if you guys have any ideas of how I could just permanently fix it in one position that would be very helpful. Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Help/Ideas/Suggestions, broken mirror! :-(

Hmmmm.. that sucks, dude.... I came up with a couple ideas, but both have issues. I know some fastener stores have small "molly" style bolts. You might be able to find one that is small enough to fit into the ball socket on the mirror back, and you could just drill and tap into the plastic. But I'm thinking the mirror piece would forever be loose and flop around....

The other idea was more of a spackling idea. You could use a pile of RV sealant or something like bondo or something else like it that is soft, pliable and schmooshy. Put a big glob of it where the two connect, and press the mirror piece into it, squishing some into the ball socket. It wouldn't be adjustable, but it would be in place.... I'm thinking something like a tile mastic or something like it for plastic. You know, the stuff that holds soap dishes and towel racks in showers when you are tiling? Something like that but for plastic.

Devcon makes a pretty good adhesive for plastic if a permanent mount is what you go with.
