tow vs big tow - Page 3

Our salesman referred to it as big tow?

I'm not sure how the term "Big Tow" got started. It's just how we refer to the Tow Package.

well i will straighten this much out, you dont have the big tow package just cause you have an overload spring, nor does the absl help or come on, on a 2007 2wd se. i have one and my absl light has never come on or if there isnt a light it dont work. i have a 17' 8" boat weighing about 5600lbs and it will pull it out of a boat ramp(if it isnt too steep) just fine. you just have to easy on the gas, hold the brake then easy into the throttle. i have sank my truck to where the bed was in the water cause i have a 14' flat bottom i launch right out of the bed, lol. i know it is redneck but i have not built a trailor or bought one and havent had a problem with it so i just keep doing it. i have an overload spring as well. i have pulled alot of things with my truck. 10,000lb camper for work 33footer, 7800 56hp john deere diesel tractor, 6000lb generator/light plant for work, these trucks are hosses. truck was bought new in may of 07 and has 36000 miles and have not had a drop of problems out of it.

Initially, BIG TOW was the actual name of the tow package. Yota has a CT or Camel Tow package.....don't confuse the two!

Unless your truck has the Trac Package, you don't have the rear wheel ABLS. Probably why you've never seen the light.

2008.5 Mine did not come with any tow package, had to have a reciever hitch installed, still researching to find out if the truck has the wiring harness for the 7 pin plug that goes at the hitch for the brake controller. My truck does have the Transmission temp gauge though.

That's because you have the Trac Package on a 2WD SE.

From 04 to 08, you had to have the Tow Package to get the tranny temp guage. From 08.5 to 09, the all have it standard. And according to the 09 brochure (not sure if there was an 08.5 book), you have to have the Max Utility package to get the under dash wiring harness and the 7 pin trailer connector.

I have not really taken the time to get up under the truck and dash to see if the harness is there or not. It would seam like regardless they would put it there when they are wiring the frame, but who knows. I use to have a 8x16 enclosed trailer with elec brakes, I sold my half to my race partner (we race Jetski's), I can still borrow the trailer if need be, but dont know if I will. If I dont, then I can just hook up a regular set of pigtails for regular trailer, but am thinking I may need to just go ahead and be prepaired.

my truck does not have the trac package. no tow hooks, 2wd, kc, bottom of the barrel, it didnt even have badges saying that it was a xe

That's right, there is no truck badged XE. It's just says Titan and 5.6

The trutrac would work great in your truck. Seeing as you have the "bottom of the barrel" truck (as you put it..lol) you don't even have the rear wheel ABLS so it's basically a 1WD truck. I'd go for the TT depending on where and how you use your truck.

well i definetly need it. i play in the mud alot and i also have a boat. once i put my 37's i will def have to have it, lol.
