Snow plowing

Hey everybody! I set up a bud of mine, who bought 2 08's, with meyer snow plows for clearing off the lots for his apartment buildings. This was back in Oct. I also installed 8 strobe lights and a mini light bar on each truck. He reported back that the Titans plow snow like you wouldnt believe!

Is anyone out there using thier Titans for snow plows?

Re: Snow plowing

I could have sworn there was something specifically in my 04's owners manual about NOT plowing with the Titan. Not that it means it won't do it, just that Nissan wouldn't honor the warranty if you did it.

I have a really long driveway, so I use this to plow

Re: Snow plowing

Sharp little plow truck you got there! Thats interesting about the warranty deal, there is a Nissan dealer by my house that was selling new Titans with plows already installed by the dealer this past winter! Wonder how that sales pitch goes, "this new 08 titan is sold as-is, good luck!"

Ditto that - Several of the local dealers here were doing that. There was one on the lot when I bought mine.

Re: Snow plowing

Hm from what ive heard attatching a snowplow kills the warranty, maybe they can warrant it cause they installed it?

Re: Snow plowing

1/2 ton trucks are really not designed to plow snow. The front suspension is not beefed up enough to handle the load. I bet the dealers were installing the plows to try to find a way, any way, to sell the titans on thier lots. If they install it then they will warranty it. But when something breaks...

Re: Snow plowing

the manual specifically states to not plow with the titan...

after plowing snow commercially in f350's i wouldn't use my titan to plow anything other than my driveway... plowing really beats the **** out of your equipment...

let us know how they hold up... also PICS!!!!

I should stop having my suit dry cleaned, it seems to kill people.
I'm not worried, I have a Titan with 4wd and a pair of balls.

Re: Snow plowing

They held up this past season so far. I wont be able to get pics up until the winter, he has the plows in storage right now. The only issue is the front sags (of course) when the plows are lifted, i was thinking of installing leveling kits before this winter. do they make a air shock/air bag for the front of the Titans??

Re: Snow plowing

I wouldn't run a business plowing with any half ton truck, but for personal use, you'll do just fine.

Re: Snow plowing

My Chevy S-10 ZR2 was AWESOME for plowing! It was like an overgrown snow blower. I could get every nook and cranny with it. After a few years, it did take its toll though....not to bad, but things were "looser".

Re: Snow plowing

It depends on how deep the snow is on how heavy of a load you are pushing. My Cousin uses his Dodge and goes through a transmission every year. He claims that he makes enough money on plowing to offset the cost of a new tranny every year.

Why doesnt he just get a built tranny that can take a beating?, Towing is one of those business with very little expense but a big profit, all you need is gas and customers lol
