Wheels

I need to get studded tires for my truck now that I moved to Anchorage. Problem is the truck is a Pro-4X with the 18inch wheels. Tough to find wheels. Will 17inch fit on this truck with the new bigger brakes up front or do I need to get the 18s? Also, any ideas where to get them up here for a deal?

Re: Wheels

what kind of tires are you considering like in the BFG area or it the mud terrain area

i dont see a reason why you cant use 17'' rims
maybe im just under reading the ? but you should be 100% fine with 0 off set

Re: Wheels

Up here in AK tires with steal studs in them help alot with the ice. These tires aren't necessarily different sizes are are typically designed with great snow and ice tread. They aren't mud or all-terrain tires.

Anyway, in this case size doesn't matter. I just need to know if I can use 17 inch wheels instead of the stock 18s. Those wheels are hard to come by and expensive.

Re: Wheels

I guess I should have started off saying that I have two choiced. I can get 18 inch wheels with the studded tires so that its just a quick swap. Or I can just get the tires and have them mounted up during the winter months and then the non-studded tires remounted during the summer months.

The second option is a pain in the *** but the first option is more expensive, particularly with the 18 inch rims. I am looking to find out if I can get 17 inch rims for a 2008.5 Pro-4X or if the new bigger brakes won't fit with 17s. Also, is there a cheap way to get them up here. I have looked on craigslist with no luck.

Re: Wheels

There are a couple wheel choices in 17" that will clear the 08 calipers. One being the American Racing Mojave's. I think Helo Maxx 6 is the other, just dont quote me on the last one. I have personally seen my mojave's clear the 08 pro4x calipers.

I also believe I read where some one swapped 08 brakes onto an 04 and had a 1/4" of clearance around the wheels but I can't dig up the thread!
