I know a meet at the Canton Mississippi plant has talked about in the past, but in lieu of the recent developments of the future Titan, I keep picturing this:
A national meet including all members from a variety of Titan forums making a trip to Canton Mississippi, all of our trucks parked blocking the main entrance, protest signs, tip off the local press and stage a photo session with all Titan truck owners flipping the bird to Ghosn. I am dead serious about doing something like this. I love my truck in its current form.
have you lost your mind? why would i waste my gas on driving to canton ms, when its apparent that nissan isnt competitive anymore in the full size truck market? its not ghosn's fault the economy is what it is. that effort wouldnt change anything.
just let it go....keep your truck and tell everyone you talk to how much you love it and how you wished it wasnt being nixed.
Rather than just being a rebadged Ram, it would be great to combine our PowerTrain with some Dodge axles... I'm sure costs of retooling dodges truck line will prevent this, but it would be nice...

I'm just glad I got my Titan when I did and dont care if they make anymore or not. I wouldnt use a Dodge or Chevy truck as a door stop let alone buy one. The main reason I bought this truck is because of the way it drives and doesnt sway or bobble around. I dont care what badge they put on it, it's going to ride like a Dodge.
Yeah, I already know what you guys are saying and do realize this may never come about for a variety of reasons. This is something I typically don't do.
Why would I consider doing something like this? The primary reason is like any other Titan owner who participates in meets. A national meet would be a great event, a farewell event for a vehicle that we are all so passionate about. Maybe Mississippi wouldn't be the place to do this, but Canton Tennessee would be a better choice.
I see the threads criticizing the new Titan, threads about people complaining about Nissan's lack of action to design issues, and the threads where in spite of their criticismm they are upgrading their Titan to a new model year. This kind of loyalty is what make classic cars classics and manufacturers who strive not to loose their base with new designs. This thread is to have those put their money where their mouth is and get their voices heard. Otherwise, all those types of threads are really pointless.
To the naysayers, you don't think that 5000+ Titan owners that embark on the corporate headquarters would make some future impact? Do I realistically think that that kind of participation could be obtained? A simple yes would get us there fast.
Personally, I can get over it- no problem. Is such an event going to happen? No, probably not- too many excuses. If people were truely interested in a farewell meet while creating a public affairs embarrassment, you can't help but think it wouldn't bring a smile to everyones face while enjoying the camaraderie in a well organized, bittersweet event.

I'm with you on this MH, doing nothing solves nothing. If people don't try to make a point to manufactures they will continue to do only what looks good to them. Its not always a bad product, marketing plays a big role in success. Are we to let a good product slip away because of poor marketing. Can't remember the last time I seen a Titan commercial. Nothing may come of a protest, at least we could make a point and voice our displeasure. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Bad press does speak volumes and nobody hates it more than Nissan. If nothing else a Titan meet is always Fun.
If Titan does merge with Dodge as it is nearly certain, won't be buying a new truck for awhile anyway, so money saved I will happily spend on the gas getting there. I'll bring the beer. Would hope to have to buy a couple of Kegs!

No, but is Ghosn's fault that the Titan wasn't marketed properly
It's his fault that Nissan hasn't stood behind the Titan, just run from it
It's his fault that Nissan did not offer more body styles
It's his fault that Nissan didn't counter the Tundra, which, IMO, is the real down fall of the Titan.
It's his fault that the phrase, "That thing got a Hemi?" will soon be associated with the Titan.

Ghosn's responsibility is to his shareholders. By making the tough decision to discontinue the titan sooner rather than later, he is doing his job.
By building a full size truck, they were fighting for a shrinking market, shrinking at an accelerated rate with high gas prices, one that the big 3 is firmly dug into, and one Toyota decided to enter with a bang. Too hard to make a profit (just ask dodge gm and ford).
Most Auto CEO's would have lost a lot more money on the Titan before throwing in the towel...because they lacked the balls to make the tough call.

hehehe.....he didnt sound too happy about Ghosn's idea to me. It's going to take someone with ideas not seen before to keep that market alive. Can Nissan & Ghosn do it? I doubt it, look how easily our trucks faded away into a nothing partnership.
I'm hoping the move to the Dodge platform will be temporary, when the economy turns around and truck sales pick up again maybe Nissan will spend the money to do their own R and D on their own Titan.
