Has anyone else had this problem? I bought my Titan last spring, and one time the heat didn't work. Now, with the cold weather coming, I can't get the heat to come on at all.
When I have the fan on high, and move the controller from cold to hot, I can hear the pitch of the air flow change, so something is changing, but it still blows cold air.
I checked the HVAC fuse, and it's ok, as well, I checked the coolant level, and it is within specifications as well.
PLEASE HELP or give any suggestions.
Joe B.

If it's new I'd go to the dealer since it should be under warranty. Could be the bypass valve on the heater line under the hood on the passenger side. I used mine for the first time the other night and was glad to find that it worked. Sucks having no heat in the winter. I had a Jeep that I could not find the problem with for the life of me. -13f at 70mph really blows with no heat since your breath freezes on the inside of the windshield.

I know..... The dealer is 50 miles away, and I haven't gotten a friendly reception from the service dept the last couple of times I've been in there for an oil change. They weren't mean or unpleasant, just not so friendly. Like I was there to actually make them work, and that was just the guy at the desk.

I'd try to see if you can check the function of the bypass valve yourself. Most vehicles I've seen it was vaccuum operated but the Titan appears to be electronic. I'm sure you can pull it off and have someone move the controls and see if it functions. Just make sure the truck is off so you don't pump hot coolant all over the place.

So today, I start going down the street, and it's warm out. I have the fan running, and I turn it to warm to see if it will warm up. It does. So I turn it back to cold, then hot again, and it stays cold the rest of the day no matter how fast or slow I turn the dial, or what buttons I push. Off to the dealer on Wednesday..... They say they don't know how long it will take.

I bet it's that bypass valve, or possibly the blend door. Shouldn't take them too long if it's just the valve. Good luck.

Does the Blend door repair = dash removal ? If it does it will be an all day affair. Drop it off and get a loaner. My heater core replacement took the dealer 2 days. The first day was the dash removal and heater core removal and the second day was the reassembly.
I'm guessing the dash would need to come out if it's the blend door. Unless the whole unit will come out the bottom, I've never looked very closely at it. Took me 3 days to do the heater core in my Jeep, which still didn't fix it. I think it ended up being the blend door but I was not about to take it apart again. Hopefully it will just be the valve so it's a quick fix for him.

I really don't know....but I think the blend door is working ok, as the pitch of the tone of the air coming through the vents changes as I move the controller from warm to cold.
**I mainly wondered if this was a common problem, or I just happened to get a faulty one, which I understand happens.
The fan has gone to high on a couple of occasions, and I let them know about that as well, but it has been a few months since that happened, and it returned to normal after I turned the fan to 'off' for a moment.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I already plan on leaving it there, but I need it to drive to Minneapolis for the weekend, which is about 5 1/2 hours one way. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get repaired.
Joe.

If the tone of the air changes I would bet it's just the valve not letting the warm coolant circulate. Mine has changed fan speed on me a couple times too but only when it's pulling outside air. If it's on recirc it doesn't do it so I'm not too worried about it. I need to bring it in for the clunk in my front end. 12,000 miles and it sounds like a piece of crap. So maybe I'll make mention of the fan and see what they say.

The blend door on the jeeps is a common problem with them. I bet they tried to talk you into changing the evaporator while they were in there. Next time it goes there is a kit you buy from a guy on ebay, The kit has the new pieces to fix the blend door without taking the dash apart. It involves using a dremel to cut the heater box where he tells you make your fix then replace the cutout in the box and seal it. The only down fall is you lose the dual climate control, But it's worth the difference in price. Sorry for the hijack fpd7.

I did the heater core myself so I only got what I thought was the bad part. A/C ended up going too but it was a line under the hood. I got rid of the Jeep, nothing but prblems, and when large metal flakes started showing up in the trans pan I'd had enough. I guess her off roading adventures took their toll, lol.

I got a call toay. "Unable to replicate problem." What am I going to do with 2 kids in the winter with no heat? I told them to keep it and try again tomorrow. I have been able to 'replicate the problem' time and time again. I've had the truck for 5 months and 2 weeks. For 5 months the air conditioner has been running. I expect the heat to work now.

That's typical of them. I kept complaining to my dealer about the heat in my truck for two winters and they could'nt find a problem. They said they even pressured tested it. Turned out to be a leak in the heater core, I just happened to notice the dried up antifreeze on the inlet and outlet of the heater core, looking at it from the engine bay. I took it back to them, Held there hand and showed them where the leak was. Turned out to be a nightmare for them to change the heatercore, I think thats why they kept pawning me off. There might be a leak in your heatercore like mine and the heatercore is getting airlocked. If they don't do anything about it next time get a price on a new heater control valve, if it aint to much money it might be worth it to try and see what happens. If that don't work you might have the same problem I had, New Heatercore. Good luck.
Make sure your not set on max air or max a/c. Your heater won't work.
