definitely subscribed to the thread..

My only fear with this color is that in a few years it'll seem dated, like all those teal vehicles from the 90's.... ah well, by that time she should be lifted!!

Re: Project: Ballistic Titan

i get a few people looking like WTF are those. my only beef is that on the site the silver rivet things on the lip have a black center and when i got them they were all silver. now i am going to have to paint them. they look better black.

Re: Project: Ballistic Titan

Yeah, someone else noticed that too. I have notified our web department and they should be getting a more accurate photo up shortly. Thats one of the cool things about the Jesters though, you can paint the accessories if you want.

Looks great, amazing write up, but one thing that you did wrong is RUIN the wheel/tire combination excitement, theres a sneak peak of the wheel and tire on one of the pics

lol, haha, I wondered if anyone would notice it. Good work Vilim12. I actually left it in there to see how long it would take for someone to notice. Let your imagination put it together if you can.... lol, I love it.

Project #2 AirAid intake

Project #2 AirAid Intake:

Product: AirAid Air Intake Kit manufactured by AirAid
Install Time Start to finish: 1 hour
Difficulty: Easy (3 on a 1-10 scale)
People needed for the Job: 1
Tools: Flat head screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, snips, 10mm socket and socket wrench, Allen wrench

First things first, cross check the parts list. (check)

Step 2; Removal. After I disconnected the battery (as recommended in the AirAid instructions) I started buy loosening the hose clap that was holding the intake tube to the intake box. I also unplugged the intake Sensor.

Step 3. Next I unlatched and removed the stock air filter box and air filter. (Snip plastic tie holding sensor plug wire to cover)

I then needed to remove the base unit. I unscrewed two 10mm bolts that were holding it in place. (sorry for the blur)

With the screws removed there seemed to be something still holding the box in place. It seemed there was a screw holding the box down that I could not see and once I did figure out where it was I thought I was in trouble because there was no way I was going to get a wrench anywhere near it. I thought for a minute about what do to then thought heck with it maybe I can just pop the head of the bolt through "Here goes nothing" I thought so I pulled up on the box and it popped out. Turns out it was actually designed to be popped out exactly that way. Here's a picture of the bolt. (kind of hard to see but it anchors the box down from the bottom. The bottom of the box has a rubber grommet designed to do this. This is looking straight down at the top of the fender inside the engine)

Next step: Remove the intake tube from the base. I popped off the clips holding these two pieces together as directed. I used a small flat head screwdriver. I then reinstalled the base without the intake tube, as directed.

Using a Phillips head screwdriver I next removed the two screws holding the intake sensor in the air filter cover.

Setting the sensor asside (out of the way of heavy feet), I put together the intake QuickFit adapter with the supplied hardware. and installed the AirAid intake tube.

Next Step: Install Intake sensor. Using the provided button head screws I installed the Intake Sensor into the AirAid intake tube. I also removed the stock locking clip from the stock air filter cover and installed it into the QuickFit box as directed.

It was now time to install the QuickFit box. I slid the stock intake tube over the AirAid intake tube and then fit the QuickFit box onto the stock air filter box base, snapping it into place with the factory intake clips. -Awesome how this system fits together.

I then tightened the hose clamp and reconnected the Intake sensor and plug.

For the final touches I installed the AirAid filter and added the rubber seal to the top edge of the QuickFit box.

Last I reconnected the battery and.... I was done.

Install Review: Great! I think it took me more time to wipe down the engine than it did to do this install. (it was quite messy due to a failure in the radiator cap and still needs more cleaning.) Everything went together as the directions said. The only hick-up I had was with the hidden bolt that I didn't know anything about. I would also add that the quality of the products materials is excellent.

Product Review:
Performance: This product is better than I expected. I've heard that intakes have a better effect on larger engines. Titan owners are luck if that’s the case and this system makes me a believer. I do notice a positive gain in acceleration and torque. Exactly how much though, it's hard to tell without a Dyno but I can tell you that it's there. I feel the power band kick more and it doesn't take the peddle hitting the floor to notice it. As for the MPG. I am having a hard time measuring it accurately just yet. I find myself enjoying the added pull so I am using my foot more right now than I normally do. I'll try to get some numbers after my urge for speed dies down. (if it does, Thank you AirAid!) I also am really enjoying the sound. I can now hear the engine gulp for air. It sounds tuff, again as a truck should and it balances out nicely the sound of Gibson Exhaust. Two thumbs up from me on this one!

This leads me to something.... a short tangent.

It's going to take me some time to give it a through cleaning. Last week my battery fell subject to the Arizona heat and needed to be replaced. (less than two years and less than 30K) I opened up the hood to jump it and I quickly realized that the radiator cap had failed and had let coolant spray all over the inside of my engine. Apparently these caps get replaced every 30K but mine, also with the Arizona heat, didn't last that long. So dirt and dust happily stuck on like spider monkeys. The car wash quoted $80.00 of clean it up top and bottom. I can't see paying that much so I'll be scrubbing some more shortly.
