Talking A new Titan owner...Welcome (and a few questions for u pros)

Well I’m new to this board just bought a ‘04 Nissan Titan LE Crew Cab . I love it, my wife has a ‘04 Nissan Armada and I always eyed the Titan but my Chevy S-10 was still running good and paid off.
Have a few questions I hope you all can answer?

1. Do you all know where I can find the piece of plastic that is behind the sunglasses holder and before the cargo boxes see pic below? And do you know what the previous owner had there I was thinking a scangauge 2 ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool because of the 2 buttons on the left and 3 buttons on the right. Plus there is a Cat 5 cable with RJ-45 connectors on both sides that run from there to my OBDII that is just hanging there.

2. I missing the black pop screw (I don’t know if that is what it is called) that connects the front wheel well (inside) splash guard to the chassis, where to get one of those? See pic

3. I live in Cheyenne, Wy and it is very windy has anyone experienced very strong crosswinds that seem to pull the door open while driving on the interstate? (it also happens on the Armada)

4. I hear rattling going around 30 miles per hr on a bumpy road from the front right wheel well doesn’t sound serous but makes me wonder what it is.

5. I was looking for something that I could put in my bed that goes maybe 2 or 3 feet in that keeps groceries from moving around in the bed when I have all my kids in the backseat and have to use the bed as a trunk. Any suggestions??

6. And finally I was looking for a good auto start that would work with the factory alarms system.

Thanks in advance and the board seems great…..oh yeah anything else on the 04 I should look out for since I see some people talk about breaking rear ends, breaks, bad factory battery, etc…..

Re: A new Titan owner...Welcome (and a few questions for u pros)

Congrats on the truck and welcome to TT....

that definately looks like scanguage holes, and I have no idea on the plastic part to replace it other than dealer or auto recyclers (junkyard)... auto parts store should have the little pieces for the fender liner... others will chime in I'm sure.

the factory bed extender would probably work the best but there is one called a cargo bar Cargo bar for pickup truck beds

That's definitely a Scangauge installation. You may consider purchasing one and putting it in there. It's a very useful item and you already have the mounting and wiring in place for it. I know that's what I would do if someone went to all that trouble and left me the easy part....

You can get these from dealers. You can also get them from an auto salvage yard, which may be an answer for the plastic piece you want if you don't get a Scangauge. Most autoparts stores have the little DIY packages that are universal items many cars use. You may find them there as well.

Yes, I've heard of this. Many say that it whistles also when that happens. You might try this fix:

If it's not your wheelwell liner, it may be your stock shocks. How many miles are on them? Any visible leaks?

The bed extender will work. It was what I used for exactly that until I got the sliding bed divider. If you have the Utilitrac, you can use either one.

You could go a bit cheaper and just get something like this:

There are many that will work, but they require quite a bit of work to install. I would recommend a professional installer for that as it's fairly involved. It usually takes the better part of a day. Some on here have done their own, but are well versed in wiring and electrical installations.

The rear ends on the truck have weak spider gears. You're going to see that around here. TruTrac is an option if that occurs. Just do a search on TruTrac and you'll find tons of info.

The brake judder happens, but it may have already been fixed on your truck. Have your dealer run the info in your truck to see what's been done to it. It's registered through the VIN so it's an easy thing for them to look up.

If you have issues with the brakes and they aren't warrantied, here's a great answer for you:

Group Buy on Frozen Rotors & Hawk Pads!!!!

You will also need to watch your rear axle seals. They leak onto the rear wheels from the back side and look like a brakeline leak. Those are typically warranty items.

The factory battery is just like any other. It's good for some and not for others. I had to replace mine and I have an '06. There's a thread on here about '04's and the original batteries. Some still have them...

Congratulations on your purchase and good luck. This is a great place for answers, although I usually can't help anyone out.... Feel free to ask anything you may need to know. Someone will chime in, I'm sure!
