Cleaned my AEM filter yesterday. Today after letting it sit out and dry for 24 hours I put it back on my truck and went for a drive. Apparently it wasn't all the way dry because as soon as I gave it some gas the truck lurched and felt like it was bogging down.
Turned around quick and went home and took the filter off. Sure enough there's water inside. Took off the MAF and used a hair dryer on 'cold' to dry that off.
Question - has anyone done this before and was the MAF shot after getting it wet? The three little resistor looking things that stick out look to be in tact. I hope I didn't F anything up...

You should be OK, I have read of peoples going off road and sucking more water than that.
It took about 2 days for my AEM to dry last time I cleaned it. I bought a cheap filter from auto part place to use during the wait.

Sh1t man! On AEM's website it says that it's dry in a half of an hour! WTF.
Q: How long does it take to clean the DRYFLOW filter?
A: The DRYFLOW filter media is hydrophobic, which is a fancy way of saying it does not soak up water. Under normal conditions, cleaning will take about an hour. We recommend that you follow the instructions that are included in our intake systems and DRYFLOW filter replacement filter kits (CLICK HERE for downloadable cleaning instructions). Unlike oiled filters that must be cleaned, then dried, then oiled, then wait for the oil to wick to the material and finally fill in any “gaps” where the oil did not wick, with the DRYFLOW you simply bucket soak it, bucket rinse, shake it out and it will be dry in approximately 30 minutes! CLICK HERE for a cleaning demonstration video!
Someone needs to let them know that is not the case!

Here's a trick that i do when i clean my K&N, after re oiling it and letting it sit over night, i hook up my shop vacuum to the filter and run it for an hour or so, just to make sure if i over oiled it, it will suck up any any oil before i put it back on my truck, i tested it out and checked the MAF and nothing.

I've had problems with the AEM drying slowly also. Let it outside fro 24 hours and it was still damp so I put it on a rack in the clothes dryer and it still took 1 hr to dry.

That's why I bought two filters.. One resides in the truck.. the other one dries for as long as it needs until I have to change the one in the truck. It's pretty idiotproof, IMO.....
I had the same problem with mine when i first did it so i bought another one cheap online and just put that one on until it dried all the way took two freakin days.

I did the same.. Got tired of waiting for the filter to dry etc.... Bought a backup Nismo (AFE) filter from enissan parts... Now I always have a fresh filter ready to go..

I think you're not supposed to use any heat source beside the SUN.
thank you, thank you sir! LOL, a friend of mine had a K&N on his silverado ss and he messed up his MAF from over oiling. and told me what he does when he cleans his filter after that expensive mistake.

Well guys everything is fine. Put the filter on my computer case fan for another 24 hours and she dried out fine. Also took out the MAF and let it dry in the warm house for the same amount of time.
