XM Satellite radio

Has anyone done the Nissan XM radio........As I understand it, you need either the 6 CD or Fosgate radio and then the dealer installs an antenna
and a modulator. What is the cost vs going with an aftermaket DELPHI
w/ FM modulator and Trek antenna (normally this set-up is about $250)+
monthy subscription costs.

I asked for my dealer to install a factory XM on my new 04 SE KC with the RF stereo and I was very disappointed. Instead of setting me up with a factory Sat radio that works with the "SAT" button they installed an aftermarket XM Roady. Being it used an FM modulator the sound quality was not that good. It also interfered with AM/FM radio reception when on so I had to constantly turn it on and off when channel surfing.

I talked to the dealer and they said only certain trucks are pre-wired for Sat radio and even though you may have the SAT button that does not mean you are SAT ready. They tell me the only way to know for sure is to look for a sticker on the driver side doorframe.

After two days I talked to the management and had them yank it out and used the $500 credit to put in a Banks Exhaust, which I love.

The Roady does not require a modulator to listen to, that is just only one way to listen to it. If you have the AUX port on your radio, you can get an inexpensive male-to-male connector at Radio Shack and connect it that way. That's how I have had my Roady connected since October without any problems. I've thought about hardwiring it to the back of the radio, but have never gotten around to do it since it isn't always in there.

Plus the Roady comes with its own antenna that is very easy to mount right in front of the rear brake light, or even just have sitting on the dash like most people have
