Question rear diff problems

hey guys first off thanks for all the advise i got on my storage question i posted last week it was all very helpful, seems like as long as i do it right the truck will be fine. so heres another one for y'all. so as ive been made aware the rear diff on 04-05 titans is prone to blow out around 80k miles or so. and im wondering how are you suppossed to tell if it's getting ready to go out or not? i recently had the diff fluid changed and asked em to take a look at it, but i mean really i have no idea what they looked at, nor what to look for myself if i do it. as im out of warranty it could be very expensive if i dont catch it ahead of time. i have an 05 LE crew, 4x4, with an e-lock and i dontthink theres anything wrong yet, but idk. can anyone shed some light on this? pictures, web links, advise, warning signs, i mean really id take anything to start with cuz i got nothing at the moment.

thanks guys

The weak link in most diff's are the spider gears.
To be safe, install a TrueTrac posi unit (very strong, this design has no spider gears ) and a mag hytech diff cover ( more oil and fins for cooling, looks cool too ) you will be good to go, no worries

Re: rear diff problems

There are quite a few that go way before 80k. Mine went at 26K. It is one repair that was always on my mind, so when I first heard a slight clunk when pulling away from a stop I wondered if that was the start of it.

Later that night a few more slight clunks and then it just blew. I have only towed one heavy object (6000lbs) about 3 miles, had changed the oil early to M1 and really don't abuse my truck. There are no warning lights, just the sounds.

Now it's my front diff that I'm worried about (and steering rack, radiator, ...)
